I can confirm that both ears can show slightly different readings due to a number of different factors.

I have spoken to the supplier who has advised -
To switch the display between °C and °F, turn the unit on. Press and hold the on/recall
button for 3 seconds, the display will show as Fig. F , the unit will prepare for a
measurement. Do the same again to switch back to °C.

The Kinetik Wellbeing Inner Ear Thermometer can be used without the covers but it is not recommended to not do so due to health and safety.

Yes you can, but you will need to make sure you clean it thoroughly to prevent any cross infection should you have any ear problem. Something like a baby wipe or similar would do. Though I would recommend you do use the covers.
