The table part is pre-assembled and made from gloss lacquered wood (on all sides of the wood including ends) and the legs just screw in.

The main consideration with this Cato Side Table is that it's not really designed for use in such a way and has a maximum load weight 10kg only (compare that with many desks and TV stands that can take 50kg and well over in many cases). It also has fairly slender legs. Whilst it'd be perfect for the usual things you'd keep on such a desk, e.g. a lamp, alarm clock, a book, I couldn't guarantee how stable a TV, even a relatively small one, an Xbox console, and various cabling would be on it.
