It converts to a belted booster when they're ready for the next stage. The adjustable head support repositions easily, giving you longer use. I bought this a few weeks ago for my 16 month old and she fits in it perfectly and comfortably, she is prefers car rides more now with this seat and she can still sleep comfortably in it on our travels. Would highly recommend. The only thing we had trouble with was setting the car seat up in the car but once we watched a YouTube tutorial it was easy enough done. I will be purchasing this for my other baby’s when there time for an upgrade
