About this product
The Habitat Halstead Ottoman Bed sorts out two big things at once, it gives you somewhere comfortable to sleep and it hides away loads of clutter underneath. There's a soft grey linen-look fabric covering the whole frame, it feels nice and stands up to daily use. The padded and buttoned headboard gives you something to lean back on when you're reading in bed. Sprung wooden slats support your mattress properly and help it last longer. Lift the end of the bed and you'll find 590L of storage space, enough for spare bedding, out-of-season clothes, or anything you want tucked away.
The end lift mechanism lets you get at what's stored without shifting furniture around or pulling things apart. The upholstered frame keeps its shape through regular use, with plastic feet that keep it stable and allow you to clean underneath. It'll support up to 220kg in total, so it's solid enough for everyday life. The grey fabric's easy to spot-clean when you need to. Self-assembly's required, and it's easier with two people, all fixings and instructions are included. There's a one-year guarantee covering you for peace of mind.

Lovely bed, but use a drill to build it
I bought this bed in the sale and I'm really pleased with how it looks. The cream fabric is a lovely neutral shade that would suit pretty much any room. One thing to be aware of: as with many cheaper ottoman beds, the storage area doesn't have a hard base. It's just fabric underneath, so bear that in mind if you plan to store anything heavy. // Assembly The instructions are a bit misleading, and some important steps aren't clear at all, especially fitting the gas struts that let the ottoman lift up and down. I ended up watching a YouTube video, which wasn't perfect but was far more helpful than the instructions. The instructions also tell you not to use a drill. Ignore this! A cordless drill/driver makes the job so much easier. There are some tight spots, and using the small metal tool they provide would take forever. I'd also recommend having a pair of pliers handy. To tighten the bolts on the ottoman lift frame, I held the bolt steady with the pliers and tightened from the top with the drill. // Bed wooden slats If I had to say something negative, I would say the wooden slates are of poor quality, I replaced my IKEA bed which had wooden slats, and they were much better quality. The ones given from this bed, chipped, some were not very curved and others kept breaking. // Closing the bed The instructions say you need a mattress on the bed to push it down. You can actually close it without one: put your weight through your shoulders and push down closer to the middle of the frame. My mattress delivery driver showed me this trick and it works. // Overall A stylish, good-value bed, especially on sale. Just be prepared for a slightly frustrating build, and have a drill and pliers ready before you start.

Great bed
Excellent bed very stable great storage highly recommended. The headboard sets it off. The fabric lovely grey colour nuce and smooth. The only down fall was it took over a month to come.

Great storage bed, really comfortable, sturdy
This is our second Habitat bed and we only replaced previous as we needed the extra storage. Easy to assemble with two people, could be tricky squaring up on your own. Really sturdy and great nights sleep. So much storage space and end lift feels really sturdy, no wobble when you lift. The fabric is nice but not as Linen like as I expected, slightly rough to touch. But looks hard wearing.
