About this product
When you need a gate that gets out of the way, this one folds right back against the wall. The BabyDan Guard Me retracts when you're not using it, so there's no permanent barrier blocking your hallway or doorway. Fits openings from 55 to 89cm (or up to 114cm with a separate extension kit). The one-handed opening is handy when you've got a toddler on your hip or a basket of washing in the other arm. Screw-fit installation means it stays put.
The auto-retractable design folds back neatly when the gate's open, making it almost invisible and freeing up space in tighter hallways. The double locking mechanism keeps it secure when closed, while the one-handed operation lets you unlock and walk through without putting anything down. It can be mounted on either the inside or outside of the door frame, giving you flexibility depending on your layout. The wide walk-through section means you're not squeezing past awkwardly. Does the trick
Bought a his having already bought and set up the same one before. It's easy to install and works really well if you're concerned about your little one trying to climb on the gate. Folds away neatly when not in use so doesn't ruin the aesthetic of your stairway

bought this as the stair width was smaller than the maximum, but in the end we had to fit it a different way and the gate was not wide enough which would require us to buy an extension section, which Argos did not have, so had to take back. Overly complicated in design and to construct,

Does not sit flat.
I the images supplied by the company that makes this product they show a flat gate that folds open. It does not sit flat.Its more like a concertina, no matter how taut it is.

Rabbit gate

Bought this to keep my small dog in or out!
This stair gate is brilliant as it folds right back on itself and doesn’t require a frame, so there’s no stepping over a bar to get through the kitchen entrance, not easy half asleep! Saw it first at the cottage I stayed at on holiday and was impressed by its compact design. Sadly my pup can leap over it as it has to be hung quite low, hoping as she grows bigger she’ll be less agile!

Just what we wanted!
Really impressed with these. We put them at the top of the stairs from the bannister to the first door so that we didn’t have to bother cutting into the skirting board or adding a piece of wood. Was easy to fit. Brilliant that it is retractable as no gate in the way when it’s open, no hazardous bar at bottom to trip and easy to open and close with one hand. Brilliant quality, strong and sturdy and looks classy.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the BabyDan Guard Me Auto Foldable Safety Gate: BabyDan does not have a spacer in its range.
For many who have the same challenge, we recommend to mount a thin board or similar on the wall above the skirting board in the same depth/thickness to compensate for the level.
Perhaps paint the board the same colour as the wall and skirting board so that the difference is not visible.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Babydan Guard Me Safety Gate-Black: I would strongly advice you against the GuardMe, if you are looking for a solution to keep ferrets in. The gate is designed to be a bit loose which means that the distance for a ferret to get under will be even bigger than when I measure (at least 3 cms) – in reality the distance will be even bigger.

“ Yes, the Guard Me gate will move if a dog stand up on it – how much will depend on the size of the dog of course.
It is vital that the safety distances are kept when installing this type of safety gate on top of a staircase. ”
