Kickboxing gloves are designed to provide fighters with more flexibility in their hands to catch kicks - even in close quarters. Boxing gloves, on the other hand, are designed to provide extra cushioning and support to the knuckles for fighters. For training purposes, either kickboxing or boxing gloves will do, but for in the ring fights, stick with the appropriate glove for the specific sport.

For 6oz gloves the recommended fighter weight is 28 to 37kg.

Id say no. RDX do 4oz glove on their website. That would be suitable for an 8 year old.
4oz is the size you need though. There are other makers too.
