I purchased 2 of these lamps to use as bedside lights. I know they were cheap but still expected some sort of quality. The bases were fine to be honest hence the 3 stars, however the shades were just cheap and flimsy. One was 'creased/dented' which i tried to smooth out but couldn't. I didn't have time to go back to shop to return so threw it away.

Very nice lamps, that look really nice. Added an LED bulb, and the shade gives a warm glow (pink), and again, looks nice.

It uses a single E14 small edison screw LED bulb up to 6 watts, so you can pick the right brightness for your needs. It's not sold specifically as a reading lamp though and the brightness would depend on factors like your chosen bulb wattage (up to that 6 watt maximum) and the distance it is away from the place you'd be reading.

"Either bulb shape can be used although a candle bulb may be more visible at the top of the lamp as they tend to be taller."
