'The plating on this line is gold coloured rather than precious metal. All plating can wear over time but the plating on a chain should wear very slowly. We don’t recommend that any jewellery should be worn all the time.'

Thanks for your query about the Revere Stainless Steel Gold Colour Curb Chain.
As this is gold plated metal, it it waterproof in the literal sense of no water getting from the outside to the interior. It is also IP gold plating too which tends to be more hardwearing than older methods of plating.
Traditionally, gold plating will tend to tarnish over time though due to the relative thinness of the outer gold layer (gold itself does not tarnish), wear and tear, and scuffs, scratches etc, can lead then to water ingress and therefore its interaction with the metal underneath.
If you got it wet in the rain or took a shower in it and forgot to take it off as a rare one off, as long as you dry it carefully and take proper care of the chain, it's not likely to be affected by that water. If you wear it continuously, regularly shower with it on, swim in it, etc, then yes, it is likely to then tarnish.
