About this product
From the Habitat archive - Originally made from terracotta, the Chicken Brick was first introduced in the 1960s. Now re-imagined by our in-house designer James Cottingham, it's made using durable stoneware with a matt black glaze. Formed to act like a mini-oven that steam cooks the food in its own moisture, the chicken brick will cook a whole chicken to perfection. Take a look at the unique Chicken Brick recipe we've created in collaboration with the food innovation team at Sainsbury's.
Part of the specially commissioned collection in celebration of Habitat's 60 years of British design.

Good
I wouldn't say it was the best, but have been after the terracotta one since I broke my old one. So found this one, lid doesn't fit properly bit wobbly. Cooks well, but still preferred my old one that u soak before use.

Just ok
Bought recently to roast chicken in. Attracted by the price. Very heavy to lift out of the oven. Lid does not fit at all well. Perhaps I expected more from my purchase?

Lovely chicken brick
I bought this as a present, and I am tempted to buy one for myself. It looks great. The only downside is it is heavy. Excellent prompt delivery.

Perfect chicken!
Great addition, one I didn’t know I needed until I bought it! Takes a bit longer to good the chicken, well worth the wait, every tender and a lovely deep flavour from the veg I cooked with it.

Hi Hatty,
Thanks for your query about the 60 Poulet Stoneware Chicken Brick - Black.
This is shaped for use with a chicken, the one end being slightly taller and wider than the other as most chickens tend to be, so it's ever so slightly wedge shaped. However, it is possible to cook other meats in it as it’s not made of materials that are specific to cooking just chicken. We’d advise to check the best way for cooking those other meats to see if they’re suitable though. In the sense that it’s basically an oven dish with a lid on, it would kind of function like a regular lidded oven dish.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Anything!! Its great for beef joints, pork joints, lamb and of course any type of meat. Cant stop using it!!
