From the information available, it is more dependent on the size of the duvet and not the tog.
Single duvet, a 8kg or above.
Double duvet 8kg or above .
Kingsize duvet 9kg or above.
Ensuring there is enough space for the duvet to move around the drum, for cleaning and rinsing.

Yes, without the app you can run all standard programmes like a normal washing machine. The app adds extra options but is not needed to run a wide variety of programmes which are available through the various controls on the front of the machine.
