About this product

Using a precision moulding process has allowed us to gently profile the enclosure providing a fresh new look and the perfect surface for our new Light Cream and Espresso finishes. With acoustic treatment the enclosure is sturdy and acoustically inert, providing the ideal housing for our electronics and NS+ driver. Enhancing the design further is a beautiful hand-crafted slatted wood grille. This brings added sophistication and creates a timeless Eames like vibe, but overall, the design is still unique and distinctly Ruark.
Our crisp OLED display clearly shows time, alarm and programme information and auto adjusts to suit ambient light levels, making it a perfect bedside companion.
A New Standard in Sound. Our latest neodymium NS+ driver, provides a smooth and extended frequency response and in R1 Mk4's tuned enclosure delivers an impressive bass performance. Driving the system is a punchy Class A/B linear amplifier for exceptional dynamics and with adaptive equalisation an eminently listenable sound is provided at all volume levels.

Incredible sound quality
I don't pay much attention to customer reviews, which are invariably subjective. However, the 5* magazine and online 'professional' reviews prompted me to spend more than I would normally on a bedroom radio. I'm glad I did - the sound quality is simply incredible and blows away all the others I have listened to.

Great Great Radio
Good morning, I'm very satisfied with the R1 Mk4 radio. I'm also very satisfied with the support from HIFight, which helped me resolve a firmware issue. It would be nice to have a USB music browsing feature on the radio. In any case, the audio quality and reception are exceptional, and I would recommend it to everyone.

Brilliant upgrade
I had to get a new radio alarm as my old one died. After much soul searching I convinced myself to spend the extra money and buy a Ruark R1 Mk4 that was on offer. I am so glad I did. It looks fantastic, is well built, the sound is great (even at very low levels), is very easy to operate, the screen is clear and it's brightness can be dimmed for use by the bed, and being heavier it doesn't move if I knock it in the dark. I'm a very happy bunny.

Rural R1 DAB Radio
Bought this a few weeks ago and it’s a cracking piece of kit. Looks great has a stylish but not over the top look. Easy to operate as a radio but on top of that it hooks easily into my phone via Bluetooth and I can play all my favourites. Good sound from such a smell unit gives a good punch of volume when you want to turn up the sounds. Great all round for me would recommend whole heartedly.

Spot on sound quality.
This is my second Ruark in ten years. Mine has a rechargeable battery pack. This allows me to use it wherever I am. Best sound quality I have ever had from a radio and I have had a few in my 72 years.

Excellent sound quality, a wonderful solid feel
Have been looking for a replacement radio / Bluetooth device, looked at several and opted to try Ruark R1. Not disappointed at all, superb feeling, a lovely weight to the radio. Easy to set up and get listening - had to go to Ruark website to download full user manual. Straight out of the box the sound quality is excellent, a lovely warm sound with a nice depth to the sound, can be adjusted in the menu settings. Initially I was unsure about spending this amount on a small radio / Bluetooth device, but I have no complaints at all and would definitely recommend. Chose the light colour to match. Only issue is now looking at the R4 !!

This doesn't have a remote control, 2 alarms for the week and the alarm is on until manually turned off.
