The Sony Bravia XR-55X90L TV impresses with its stunning picture quality and vibrant colors, making it a great choice for family entertainment. However, some users find the setup complex and sound quality lacking without a soundbar.

Great disappointment and regret purchase
I went for this TV after 'Which' report and others all recommending etc.. For me it is a great disappointment. Setting up an absolute nightmare. I am reasonably okay with technology but this TV had unbelievable number of features and items to set. Anything one is not clear about it is a nightmare to find the answer. I have not found SONY Website helpful. I have tracked a manual on line which has over 160 pages which I suoppose to keep costs down is why one is not given one. The only thing with the TV is how to unpack and put the feet on. Despite what I was led to believe there is no 'teletext' facility despite marked on remote. Equally no 'red button' rather one has to seek iPlayer thus a simple one button press feature gone replaced by lots of scrolling. For me there is an over load of features, most really 'tinkering' with settings. A right pain trying to locate 'On/Off' switch under the bottom of the set. There are two remotes both of which I find too small and really easy to touch the wrong button. The 'Google' one took me over TWO hours to link to the TV which happened after I switched off my phone's bluetooth and then immediate link! The worst aspect of all is unless one sits directly in front of the TV the picture is utterly diluted! Just a slight angle and all goes pale. If the actual program has poor quality then sadly that is enhanced so impossible to view. The pnly real positive aspect for me is; sitting straight in front, is the superb quality of picture watching a nature program or the like. Frankly I wish I had kept my old ten year old Panasonic. Sadly I cannot recommend this TV what so ever and bitterly regret purchasing it.

Great all round tv, especially if you can get a de
What HiFi reviewed as Best luxury TV in 2023. Got it for a bargain. Very good picture, very clear and little motion blur. Operating system is a bit too Google, and needs more customization options. Remote good, sound through an amp is good. Very good tv at this price point

Still the best.
I had several sonys over the years and for some reason changed to Samsung. Now I am back home with a Bravia and so happy. It is better than great, it is excellent.

2x Remote control handsets
Bought this TV a couple of weeks ago. Great picture and sound quality but annoyingly requires the use of the 2x remotes (provided) in order to access all features. One combined remote should have provided.

Impressive picture quality
Have had this TV for two weeks now and I'm very pleased with it. The HD picture quality is very impressive, I've also been surprised at how good the motion is, I'm not talking about fast-moving sports but just how people move when watching dramas, everything looks very detailed and natural. I like the YouView EPG interface, being able to watch programs from the last week is very convenient, and selecting apps and input sources is also easy. The Google interface is generally intuitive. The sound quality is ok for me but I can understand that some people may want to buy a sound bar for a more cinematic experience. I found both the sound and the picture were a bit disappointing straight out of the box but it didn't take long to customize the settings to get the most out of the TV. One other positive is that on my old (11 years old) TV I have had problems with reception on some channels but that has almost completely disappeared on this TV so I assume the tuner is better than on my old set. The only disappointments I can think of are: 1) Although you can stream programs from the channels on U: TV (what used to be UKTV Play) such as Yesterday via YouView, there seems to be no way of installing the U app. So if I want to watch programs on demand from U, I have to select a random program from the previous week in YouView so that it launches the U app and then I can go back from the random program to the main menu and then search for the program that I really want to watch. It's a bit irritating that I can't just select the U app directly as I can for the other streaming services. 2) What appears to be the default Sony Internet Browser crashed and froze everything so the remote controllers had no effect and I couldn't even switch the TV off using the button at the front of the TV, I had to physically unplug the TV to reset it. I rarely use the browser and there are other Internet browsing apps that can be downloaded so I'm not too bothered but it seemed a bit naff. Overall I've been very pleased, especially as it comes with a Sony 5 year warranty.

Hi Mick,
Regarding the Sony 55 Inch XR55X90LU Smart 4K UHD HDR LED Freeview.
Freely is not available on Sony TVs.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi Mick,
Our TVs support Fast Ethernet (100BASE-TX/10BASE-T - 100 Mbit/s). To use certain services or watch particular content (especially in 4K) you'll need the necessary bitrate. For example, 20 Mbps is enough to watch a 4K content. To learn more about the unit, check this link: https://cutt.ly/Fet7Z2vu...
