The future of boiling water for tea & coffee
Having experienced the smaller version in action at one of our relatives, we decided to go for this bigger ‘family’ version. Cannot fault it one little bit. Gives a quick, hot, measured amount of water. Preparing 2 cups of tea or coffee takes far less time than a conventional kettle, doesn’t boil more water than is needed thanks to the variable output setting, and no doubt uses less electricity. Fully recommend this product.

Not good for multiple people
This machine is brilliant if you live alone and only ever want a single cup of tea or coffee at a time. It heats up fast and saves energy if you're just making one drink. However, if you have a household of multiple people, it completely defeats the point. The largest cup setting still only fills one mug, meaning you have to keep pressing the button and boiling it over and over again for a second or third person. Imagine trying to make tea for five people having to stand there and repeat the boiling process five separate times is a huge waste of time and electricity! If you have a busy household or regularly make drinks for more than one person, you're much better off sticking to a traditional kettle.

Great Product and excellent value for money.
My old hot water dispenser finally died and I needed a new one quickly. This was an excellent price and decided to purchase it. It is more capacious than my old one, more stylish and easier to use and refill . So far I’m extremely pleased with it

Hi Ian! You can adjust the dispense amount by using the unit’s adjustable dispense button. Press and hold the button until the machine enters its adjustment mode, then change the amount to your preferred level. Once you’ve set it, press the button again to confirm the new dispense volume. If you have any other questions, please contact us via website: https://www.breville.co.uk... or via phone 0800 028 7154. We are open Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
Reduced water dispensing can often be linked to limescale buildup, especially in hard water areas. Even after descaling, some deposits can remain in internal components and affect performance. Please try the following steps:
Descale thoroughly using a suitable descaling solution, following the instructions in the user manual. Repeat if necessary, as stubborn limescale may require multiple treatments. Please also check the water outlet pipe position inside the kettle to ensure it’s correctly aligned and not obstructed.
If the issue persists after these steps, we recommend contacting Breville Customer Service for further troubleshooting and to verify warranty coverage, as your kettle may require replacement.
Hi,
I fill mine from a jug as I couldnt safely carry the hotcup full of water. After a while you can guess how much water you need to put it.
Hello Dave,
The Breville VKJ318 kettle can be filled either by taking it to the tap or by using a jug to pour water in—whichever is most convenient for you. Just make sure not to exceed the maximum fill line indicated inside the kettle for safety and optimal performance.
Hi, the space under the VKJ318 nozzle is approximately 16 cm once the removable tray is taken out, so it really just depends on the size of the teapot.
Hi, this unit is designed specifically for cups, so a standard single cafetiere may not fit properly.
Hi Anng, Yes, even though the Breville VKJ318 has a limescale filter, it still needs to be descaled—ideally every 2–3 months, depending on how often you use it and your local water hardness. This helps keep it working efficiently.
Hi Kaz - Breville VKJ318 HotCup Water Dispenser comes with permanent limescale filter.
Hi, you can clean the spout using a soft cloth and a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water. You can also descale the appliance according to the manual. For more details, please visit the manufacturer's website.
You would have to push the button for each tea individually but it takes alot less time to boil than the kettle would. Still a bit of a faff to make a big round of brews but 1 or 2 is super quick.
Hi Black cat,
The Breville VKJ318 HotCup Water Dispenser has a 2-liter capacity, which is enough to make multiple cups of tea without needing to refill and reboil for each cup.
Thank you for using Q&A
Hi Sessair, the measurement from the bottom of the nozzle is 12cm but you can also get more room by removing the drip tray which is magnetic and the space is then 14cm.
