Customers Say
The product is praised for its cooling ability and ease of use, particularly during heatwaves. However, many users find it doesn't cool rooms effectively and can be noisy. Frequent cleaning is also noted as a downside.

Keeps rooms cool, easy to use, moderate upkeep.
Bought this in April 2025, before the hot weather hit, and it was a massive help in keeping rooms cool during heatwaves. Very simple to use and set up, not massively loud (but has strength settings if the highest is too loud for you) and overall did a great job. Only negative is that it needs very frequent cleaning, otherwise it'll start blowing damp smelling air which isn't exactly pleasant.

I live in the attic and it gets pretty hot during summer time. Excellent one for a great breeze, the ice packs help but not as good as an AC certainly.

Worth it for these hot summer days/nights.
Bought it summer 2025…still working. Suitable for small room. It does really cool down the air as long as you fill it with ice and water.

Lasted 1 month
It lasted a bit over a month. It started making a horrible racket now like something gone loose inside it when it spins. I haven't moved it from its position from when I first turned it on so it really just...broke. I will try and get this fixed but knowing how horrible Argos are with returns I'm dreading it...

Misleading (confused)
I bought this as it was one of the highest scoring, the reviews seemed generally positive an it was alot cheaper, and easier to install, than a portable air conditioner. To try and put some actual details into this review which seems to be lacking in other reviews), my room is 45m sq, gets very hot (28c) especially in the evening / night and has poor ventilation. The first night I tried this i usd normal water, the next night I used the freezer packs, 3rd night I used freezer packs and and tray of ice cbes and the last night I used various things to make ice blocks and put as many as I could physicallly fit in there - so the water was ice cold. The end result, there was literally no difference in the room temperature at all. Even if you put your hand right by the air coming out there was barely a difference. There was no change in the room temperature at all, it was effectively an expensive fan. I ended p taking it back, and fo rthis, Argos gets 5 stars, the lady on the returns desk was very good, I explained to her what I'd done with the water temperature in the tray and how it didn't change the air temp coming out - I was also honest with her saying I don't know if the item was faulty or I if was using it wrong, she processed the refund and handled it very well. This is why I titled the review as misleading/confused as I am genuinely confused about the amount of positive reviews for this, and the lack of detail in those reviews. I'm also confused as to why it comes with freezer packs (to me, this indicates the temperature of the water in the tray will directly relate to the temperature of the air coming out - which simply did not happen, even with the tray packed full of ice, making the water ice cold. I instead bought a portable air conditioner which was 5 times as expensive, but the results are in a different league. The air conditioner (although alot bigger, noisier and expensive) blows out extremely cold air, the room temperature is noticeably cooler within minutes (but I did get one for an 80m sq room).

Poor performance
Loud, suffocate the room and doesn't chill at all.

Very efficient, it copes well with these heatwaves
I bought this cool fan about a month ago. Easy to use, using it everyday and it only needs to be refilled, which is easy to do every other day. I thought by using water in the machine, it would make the room more humid. I am pleased that I haven't noticed a change in humidity. Adding the ice blocks also makes the atmosphere cooler.

Nice cooling fan and not too noisy
Purchased to use in the hot weather and very pleased. Nice cooling air flow and it is not very noisy. Could have got cheaper elsewhere but I used my Nectar points towards the cost instead.

Not for me
Ice packs needed and the mist is never cool no difference between fan settings and mist settings sent it back not powerful enough . My 8 inch desktop fan is way cooler

Doesn’t cool
This is basically just a pretty expensive, humidifying fan. It makes the room very muggy and certainly doesn’t cool anything. Temperature keeps rising but at the same time it feels even worse as the humidity is increasing too. And that is with using water out of the fridge and ice blocks in it as well as turning the humidifying function off. Fine as a fan but can get that much cheaper. It’s also very loud for the first 15 minutes. Then it gets fairly quiet.

Hello Lalaland,
The Smart Air by Midea Fast Chill Tower Fan does not make the surrounding area wet. The water is used to cool the air that then blows out of the ducts.
Thanks for using Q&A
The water Tank can be fully removed, for ease of cleaning, does give instructions how to remove in the manual, very straight forward. Twist white plastic togal on pump lift up pump and pull towards you, lift pump out of water tank and remove the tank completely from machine. Wash out under tap, and put back together. Takes about 2 minutes. This is the easiest Tower fan I have purchased to get water tank clean. Best 120 pound spent this year.
Can easily be removed

Hi Mr o,
Yes, you can use ice with the Smart Air by Midea Fast Chill Tower Fan & Air Cooler but not by directly putting loose ice into the water tank. The unit is designed to work with ice packs or frozen ice crystal boxes, which are included with the product. These are placed in the water tank to enhance the cooling effect.

Thanks for using Q&A.
Yes. It is a tower but it goes left to right and covers quite a large area, surprisingly. Our attic bedroom gets so hot this time of year and we needed to replace our old fan. So far we are really impressed with this one. Have not tried the water/air con function just yet.
Hello Chloe.
Smart Air by Midea Fast Chill Tower Fan:
Yes, 60 degree oscillating fan.
Thank you for using Q&A.
The unit doesn’t oscillate itself but the fins do , it gives about a 90 degree rotation , the great point about this unit is you can add cooling blocks to the water tank which does cool the air quite well
