Great kettle!
After much deliberation (and perhaps a bit of Instagram-inspired envy), I finally took the plunge and purchased a Smeg kettle last month. Let's be honest, the main draw is the aesthetics. The retro design, the glossy finish, and the range of colors are undeniably appealing. It instantly elevates the look of my kitchen counter. But beyond the pretty face, how does it actually perform? Aesthetics and Build Quality: The Smeg kettle is a showstopper. The powder-coated stainless steel feels substantial and well-made. The chrome accents add a touch of elegance, and the overall design is just iconic. The kettle feels sturdy and durable. The handle is comfortable to grip, even when the kettle is full. The push-button lid release is a nice touch, although it can sometimes be a little stiff. The water level indicator is clear and easy to read, marked in both cups and liters. Performance: The kettle heats water quickly, although not exceptionally so. It's on par with other quality electric kettles I've used. The auto shut-off function works reliably, and the kettle boils relatively quietly. However, there are a couple of minor drawbacks. Firstly, the exterior of the kettle can get quite hot to the touch, so you need to be careful after boiling. Secondly, the water gauge is on one side, which is fine for right-handed people, but might be awkward for left-handed users. Final Verdict: Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. The Smeg kettle is a beautiful appliance that adds a touch of retro charm to my kitchen. It performs its primary function well – boiling water quickly and efficiently. While it's not perfect, its aesthetic appeal and solid build quality outweigh its minor drawbacks. If you're looking for a kettle that makes a statement, the Smeg is definitely worth considering.
