Makes ironing a dream
Anyone who does not have a steam generator iron is really making hard work for themselves. If you hate ironing this will make the task much lighter. Easy to use and cuts ironing time in half. The price is pretty good too.

Great value for money, easy ironing
Good value for money steam generator. Irons very well excellent amount of steam produced makes easy work of any amount of ironing. The only drawback is that the tube that transmits the steam is a little in the way as it catches your arm if it’s in a natural position when ironing.

Too heavy
Not good. Far too heavy and I had to return it. Also, the steam, despite holding the trigger on, seemed to be intermittent rather than constant. I've used a steam generator for 15 years and I'm used to a constant steam flow during operation. Didn't result in a smooth, finish, all garments still had creases. Overall I would not recommend this particular iron, unless you want to use it for strength training (almost 2 Kilos in the handset), I chose this because a review said it was lightweight, it's so not. Nice looking, I liked the design, shame about the negatives.

Hello Jod.
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for Tefal SV6131 Express Easy Steam Generator Iron:
It’s the material that will dictate the iron ability of a garment. This is a temperature control sole plate perfect for all material types as in standard duvet covers.
Thank you for using Q & A.
Hi Wendy, we do not recommend to use any water other than untreated tap water in the iron. If you know you live in a hard water area the untreated tap water can be mixed 50/50 with either distilled or demineralised water but there needs to be at least a 50% concentration of untreated tap water used in order for the steam function to work properly. Our irons are specifically made to use untreated tap water. Do not use pure demineralised water, water from clothes dryers, scented or softened water, rain water, filtered, bottled or boiled water, water from refrigerators, batteries or air conditioners, pure distilled water or rain water as these may damage the iron. These types of water contain organic waste, mineral elements that become concentrated when heated and cause spitting, brown staining, leaking or premature wear on your iron.
Hi Wendy,
The Tefal SV6131 Express Easy Steam Generator Iron is designed to use regular tap water.

You are able to use this product in the USA as long as a step-down transformer is used.
When you use the 'synthetic' or 'wool' settings, the temperature will decrease and no steam is required. Thus there is no need to press the steam trigger.
