The Seagate Expansion Plus Desktop gives you a massive 6TB of storage space - ideal for freeing up your computer's internal drive whilst keeping all your important files, photos, videos and music consolidated in one convenient location. This desktop hard drive is ready to use straight away with simple drag and drop file saving, and what makes the Plus version even better is the downloadable Seagate Dashboard software that makes backing up effortless with on-demand or scheduled automatic backups.
The drive connects via USB 3.0 for fast data transfer, and it's also compatible with USB 2.0 if you're using older equipment. It does require mains power to operate, but the power adaptor is included in the box so you have everything you need to get started. It's designed to sit neatly on your desk alongside your computer, and Seagate backs this desktop drive with a 2-year manufacturer's guarantee, giving you confidence in your data storage solution.

A Decent Affordable External HDD
This is a relatively affordable, basic external HDD with no bells and whistles. It has decent read and write speeds. It does what it says on the tin. It’s compatible with all domestic operating systems. With the current rise in price of memory in mind, last year I purchased an 8TB unit for roughly the same price as this 6TB unit. Over the years there have been reports of units falling from Seagate. Hopefully they’ve got their act together now and have resolved all reliability problems. Fingers crossed. Hopefully this unit will work as advertised for sometime to come. I’ll just make backups just incase. Otherwise a decent external HDD if the enclosure is a bit too plasticky.

Nice bit of kit
Purchased this because of capacity and price. I am pleased with it as I use it as a backup for my NAS. It performs well, reasonably quiet and I like the fact that it goes to sleep if not being accessed. Overall I am happy with the purchase and would recommend.

Happy with this drive which I use to periodically back up my PC. Good price from Argos and pick-up from nearby store. Only slight criticism is that it is slightly noisy when reading and writing to disk (it is a mechanical rather than a SSD drive).

I can advise the following for the Seagate Expansion Plus 6TB Desktop Hard Drive:
This is stated to run on Windows 10 or above as well as Mac OS 10.12 or above. However as this is a plug and play device, the software that is included with the hard drive may be the limiting factor as well as the USB 3.0 speeds. You may find it will work but at USB 2.0 speeds and the included software won't be compatible. XP is now an unsupported system for most manufactures as Microsoft has also dropped support for it.
