Same again please
This is a replacement of the exact same model, it has all you want, removable spout filter, illuminating level indicator on both sides (note after many years of use this needs cleaning of limescale), nice handle, easy to open and close lid (with black spot so that you don't touch the stainless steel lid. Old one started to leak between window and body, otherwise was still working well after many years of use in a hard water area.

Quick boiler
Bought to replace a Breville kettle that was getting past it's best, this is quick boiling and not overly noisy and looks good in brushed silver!

Good Value
This replaces a similar Cookworks kettle I had. I like that this is slightly smaller, yet still holds plenty. The lid appears flimsier though and heat seems to escape around the edge of it as the kettle boils. The gauge has a delayed reaction to how much water it holds so there is a tendency to overfill. This model is definitely noisier for some reason - now struggle to hear the radio/tv whilst it boils. However, as always with Cookworks kitchen equipment, I find it decent value and easy on the eye.

Hello Marie,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Cookworks Illuminated Kettle - Brushed Stainless Steel: If you are referring to the rod located at the back of the kettle by the handle this is the steam pipe. It is to direct steam to a biometric strip thermostat which automatically switches the kettle off when the water boils.

The kettle does not have control over how loud it is when boiling. The noise it makes when boiling is set...unfortunately does not have a volume control on it like a television. Some other kettles do though.
