Cookbooks kettle
After a couple of weeks, it boils quickly and switches off well. Limescale already but this is south London. See through panel at the side has minimum setting at 0.5 litres 2 cups. Pours well and filter works but time will tell if it comes with limescale / descaling.

There is a smell (plasticy) I thought it would wear off being new but 2 weeks later it still smells. I presume it's due to the double illuminated plastic gauge inside. Thinking of returning and getting one without any plastic inside (although it may be safe)

Noisy very tinny smells of tin and water tastes of tin I boiled manu times to try to get rid of the smell and taste but couldn’t so returned . Would not recommend

It’s a kettle it boils water successfully. You need to boil it a few times before use but you have to do that with all kettles to avoid an unpleasant taste

Terrible tasting kettle
We have boiled this lethally dozens of times and still we can not rid the taste of a new kettle. I have never know this before. This can be testified to by all of the staff in our office who have commented on the taste and refuse to use it any loner. We have now reverted to an old kettle we kept from years ago. We would not but this brand again

Excellent product
Have had this kettle for a little while now and found it to be ideal for a singleton like me. Boils quickly and holds enough for my needs. Living in a soft water area, I don't need the filtration but an excellent extra feature. I really like the safety features of the illuminated switch and lift off auto turn off. Would totally recommend a great product.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Cookworks Illuminated Kettle - Brushed Stainless Steel: If you are referring to the rod located at the back of the kettle by the handle this is the steam pipe. It is to direct steam to a biometric strip thermostat which automatically switches the kettle off when the water boils.

It has TWO water measurement windows.
The Argos colleague is wrong. I purchased one of these literally about a month ago and can confirm there is a water window on both sides!
