Does it's job
I needed to replace my old kettle and saw this one had a 30% discount on the day of purchase. It's a fast, efficient kettle that does what it's supposed to do without any fuss. Easy to fill, a flip lid, and rapid boil. Not too big either, so easy to handle as well, with a sturdy handle. Pleased with it.

Bad smell and strange taste
Bought the kettle a few weeks ago and still has a funny smell inside and makes hot drinks taste strange. Will give it another week and if it's still the same I will be returning it and buying a different kettle.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Cookworks Illuminated Kettle - Brushed Stainless Steel: If you are referring to the rod located at the back of the kettle by the handle this is the steam pipe. It is to direct steam to a biometric strip thermostat which automatically switches the kettle off when the water boils.

It has TWO water measurement windows.
The Argos colleague is wrong. I purchased one of these literally about a month ago and can confirm there is a water window on both sides!
