Does More than Other Home Shredders
I purchased this make and model cross cut shredder 6 years ago and was very pleased with it which is why when I needed a new shredder I purchased the same make and model. I like that it is beefy enough to shred papers with staples attached as well as plastic bank cards, features that one does not usually get with a home shredder. The one thing I would say is that the handle on my old shredder had a solid, strong handle whereas on the new shredder, the handle is not solid with the underside hollow, that gives the impression and feel that it might not be as strong as the solid handle this model previously had. I hope this is not the case. Other than the issue of the hollow handle, it works well, is reliable and does everything I need it for. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a reliable shredder that does a good job.

Vast Improvement.
Vast improvement compared to my previous shredder. I'm a semi moderate user, and after doing a certain amount of diligence of what I required, to my mind, this model has proved to be the best for my needs. No longer do I suffer the jamming up, or overheating and plus I don't have to empty the shredding bin every-time. Money well spent.

Great added features and good size
I didn't even notice until it arrived that it shreds CDs too so that's a bonus, although I've yet to try it. The handle is a great addition too. Happy with my purchase and recommend.

It has a separate chamber for dvd and credit cards
I’ve had this for a while it works well and does what it says on the label, but I do find it more nosier than my previous one.

Disappointed
Item is exceptionally heavy and somewhat loud. It sadly was returned as paper just stuck and built up until over heated. Frankly I was greatly concerned to find that in endevouring to remove the paper jam one has to negotiate the exposed blades which I consider to be unacceptable and dangerous.

Shredding machine
I'm very happy with my purchase

Shredded paper part is excellent.
I bought this as a replacement, and I was very happy with the shredding part of the machine, but I tried out the card and cd cutter today and was very disappointed.
Morag
Reasonable
Found that the small piece of plastic inside the bin breaks. This prevents the small switch on the underside of the shredder head from working. This has happened on two shredders. I found that if you put a small piece of plastic next to the switch it enables the shredder to work.

Brilliant shredder
Excellent shredder, steams through papers.

It has a number of different features which I like
I bought this shredder I think it was a month ago and it is the best shredding machine I have had and I've had quite a few and this is the best I've ever had

Yes
Hello Ellie,
The run time of the ProAction 12 Sheet 25 Litre Card and CD Cross Cut Shredder is based on the motors temperature:
"Your shredder is fitted with a safety device that switches off the unit in event of overload. Should the unit stop working, turn the unit off and unplug from the mains. Allow the motor to cool down to room temperature (approx. 30mins) before resuming operation."
This means that if the shredder is in a well cooled room, and doesn't get very hot, and you keep within the sheet limit you will be able to use it indefinitely until finished.
Thanks for using Q&A.
I have had 2 of these shredders they both failed when a cutter bearing ran dry. You cannot oil this bearing without dismantling so dripping oil in and using lubricating paper is a waste of time.
Hi Kasper,
I have checked the instruction manual for you. It states the following regarding oil:
"Please don't spay any flammable gas or oil on this shredder, it may cause a fire."
Thanks for using Q&A.
Yes, every time you empty a full bin. Hold the reverse button and apply just a little vegetable oil dripped along the length of the cutter, use a teaspoon. It’s not advisable to use WD40 type sprays or 3 in 1 oils as they are flammable.
No you don’t have to… but it’s good practice periodically
Unfortunately I had the same problem. To be honest it was almost impossible to get intouch with anyone at Argos for help. In the end I took it to an electrician who confirmed it was the sensor which recognises when paper is inserted into the shredder. They were unable to repair it. The shredder was only just over a year old but had worked very hard so I
purchased a different make which is more heavy duty. Sorry I can’t be of more help.
Just double check its not clogged in the teeth with paper. I had this, at first looking I didnt think so, but then poking with a knife I realised it was, it was a real pain - struggle to dig it all out. If its not that , then its faulty. Argos are usually very good with returns for faulty items. Just contact them. Tbh, I had two of these, they both packed up I ended up getting refunds for both - after several months of owning them.
