Disappointment
After purchasing this item, it worked successfully for four days and then the water heating function failed completely. I initially wanted a replacement, but there were no Argos stores within about 30 miles that had any stock. Therefore I requested a refund which was easy to do. Subsequently I have looked at product reviews on other retailers’ websites and find that this brand of teasmade has a history of unreliability. Argos should not stock this.

Should we just give up?
Ecxhanged the first one which did not work - when the allotted time for the alarm and tea came, it switched off. The same has now happened with the new one. The "tea now" function is fine, but setting it to come on in the morning does not. We have used teasmades for 50 years and it is only now that problems arise. Our previous 3 were fine and gave sterling service. Having read many reviews from the last year or so, including those on Swan's own website, we see that ours is not an isolated instance. Yes, the clock hands, in particular the alarm one, aren't exactly easy to set to the correct time because of the shape of the clock face. However over many years I had conquered this by using a ruler. But the alarm+tea function does not work so the whole point of the appliance is negated. Faulty wiring/cheap switches/no quality assurance???

Early morning treat
Bought this for my wife who wakes up early and has a cup of tea. Now she can have her cuppa in bed, freshly made. It’s funny how a teasmade has become passé. It’s very handy and the ceramic pot brews a delicious cup of tea.

Perfect wake-up call
This is our 2nd one of these (the other leaked after many years of use, probably due to me over filling it too often), and we could not be without it. Roll over, flick the switch to ON and a few minutes later you have a perfect cup of tea. Is there a better way to start the day?!

Where’s my cuppa ?!
Have yet to work out how to make tea using the alarm function. Can only get a cuppa when I use the “tea now” button. Very disappointed as I had a teasmaid when they first came out and had no issues with that one.

swan STM201 vintage teasmade
I bought this item just about a month ago and was pleased it worked the first time it was switched on but since it never goes off at the required time 6.50am the light goes off but nothings happens so I have to switch to NOW it will go off at 6.50pm if I set it but I don't want tea then, so it is a bit hit and miss so the timer isn't much use I have to switch it on when I wake - good job I don't need it for work so if anyone does I wouldn't buy it.

Excellent Retro teasmaid
Had a couple of teasmaids over the years. It is lovely to Wake up to a cuppa in the morning. Wish it was a bigger teapot, it fills two tea cups but if you’re a mug person, someone is getting half a mug.

Hi Mr Tea,
No, you can't set the Swan STM201 Vintage Teasmade to make tea without setting the alarm It's equipped it with a TEA NOW button If you want the TEASMADE to make tea without setting the alarm.
Thank you for contacting Q&A
The short answer is no. This and an over bright clock dial light are its main faults. I’ve disconnected the buzzer and covered the LED bulb. But it has been making tea every morning for the past couple of years……
I would not relate to putting milk into the teasmade unit at all as this could be problematic in the longer term to the unit. Milk should either be served in a separate receptacle or if making instant coffee add the milk to the cup with the coffee powder in.
Hi Sarah
Yes you will need to add the milk separately as you would when making tea normally.
I hope this helps
