Appalling buy and treatment from the staff
I’m extremely disappointed with the Cookworks 2 Portion Panini Press I purchased from Argos. The build quality is shockingly poor and it feels incredibly cheap the moment you take it out of the box. The plastic casing feels flimsy and the hinge design seems weak, like it could break with normal use. Heating is also very inconsistent. One side gets much hotter than the other, so food cooks unevenly. I tried making a simple panini and ended up with one half burnt while the other half was barely warm. For something that’s supposed to be a basic kitchen appliance, it fails at the one job it’s meant to do. Another issue is the overall finish and design. It feels like corners were cut everywhere—from the materials to the assembly. It doesn’t inspire any confidence that it will last more than a few uses. Overall, this product feels poorly made, cheaply constructed, and not worth the money. I would strongly recommend looking at other brands instead. Very disappointing purchase. Now we went into the store to request a refund and we did buy the insurance they refused and started to makr it personal with regards to the treatment of the product we had it 7 days and it was such poor quality and on the argos website it states that if returned within the certain timeframe you can have your money back they refused they started to make things personal and not being funny quite hostile they claimed it was done by force not being funny it was a manufacturing defect that led to these issues we tried many times to contact customer service it was a nightmare getting through we couldn’t ive even worked for the partner companies and i was appalled by the treatment received and i am honestly so disappointed and unlikely to use this service again

Returned
The press has 2 lights, 1 for power and 1 for temperature. Power light worked but temp did not. Returned for a refund.

A good, efficient model at a great price
Bought as a gift so can't really speak from personal experience, however I am told it is very good, cleans easily and doesn't take up a lot of cupboard space. It is efficient and cooks evenly. Price was very good when I bought it and I would buy again since the recipient was happy with it. I would possibly have given it a 5 stars if I had been using it myself

Hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q & A.
No. Because of the design, even making cheese toasties flattens the bread. As soon as you pull the lid down, it pushes the sandwiches forward if using anything thicker than sliced bread. My paninis were a disaster because they are too thick. Which is ironic with the name of the appliance. Cheese toasties are nice but very squashed. The lock only locks if the food is very thin.
Hi there,
This Cookworks 2 Portion Panini Press - Black can be used as a grill and can cook a wide variety of foodstuffs. The foodstuff should be a maximum of 1 cm thick; If using to toast sandwiches, position fillings that are likely to melt (e.g. cheese) towards the center of each sandwich to minimize leakage.

Hi there,
Yes, it will toast the bread.
Thanks for using Q&A
Yes it does. It doesn't seal the sandwich to form like a pocket though (cause the bread is squashed to do that) which is why I bought this machine as I prefer it not sealed.
Yes it does, delicious too.
