It’s a bit dodgy to use because if you aren’t careful and pull back the catch to far when fastening it, the combination number resets

Rubbish. Bought for the gym, set combination, worked once then never worked again, otherwise my stuff would have been stuck in a locker. Buy cheap buy twice.

Good solid lock. However bar to too thick to go through the interlocking part of a zip sliders on an average suitcase, so not very useful for this purpose

The supplier has advised the following for the Master Lock All Purpose Combination Padlock:
There is no secret way to open the lock if the code is forgotten. You'd need to have that original code to be able to set/reset the combination.
If you have the old code but wish to change it then the directions from the instructions are below. To set your own combination:
1. With dials at old code, pull out the shackle.
2. Turn shackle 90° (1/4 turn) and press it down.
3. Continue pressing shackle and set the dials to your own combination.
4. Lift and turn shackle to the initial position.
5. To lock, turn dials to scramble combination.

Having checked I can see once set this can not be reset without the code being entered. This is to prevent this from being opened by someone else once you have used the lock.

Having contacted the supplier for you I can let you have the following instructions:
(The lock is pre-set at the factory to operate at 0-0-0-0)
1. With dials at 0-0-0-0 pull out the shackle
2. Turn the shackle 90 degrees (1/4 turn) and press it down
3. Continue pressing shackle and set the dials to your own combination
4. Lift and turn the shackle to the initial position
5. To lock - turn dials to scramble the combination
