The Philips Series 5000 Beard Trimmer for men gives you an even and precise trim when creating your 3-day stubble, short beard or long beard look. Philips' innovative Lift & Trim Pro system lifts the hairs up to the level of the double-sharpened blades for a one pass even beard trim. With 40 lock-in length settings from 0.4-20mm, get an even trim for any length of beard or stubble with the adjustable zoom wheel. Charge your beard styler for 1 hour for up to 90 minutes of cordless use, or simply use whilst plugged in.
40 lock-in length settings. Adjust your combs with the zoom wheel to your preferred trimming length and achieve the beard style you want. Use the short beard comb for 0.4–10 mm lengths settings or the long beard comb from 10-20 mm.
Self-sharpening metal blades. The stainless steel blades have double-sharpened edges, cutting even the thickest hair precisely and quickly. They also sharpen themselves as your trim, by lightly brushing against each other for long-lasting sharpness and no need for oil.

I had previously had an older Series 5000 trimmer but the battery capacity had drastically reduced after over 5 years. I'm a little disappointed that they had designed it to be difficult/impossible to repair and replace the battery, because the motor, trimmer head and charger still work.

The trimmer has a precision dial to adjust the cut length, settings between 0.4-10 mm in 0.2 mm increments, after the 0.4mm, the next length would be 0.6mm. This will allow a 1mm cut.

Having checked the instructions for the Philips Series 5000 Lift & Trim PRO Beard Trimmer BT5502/1:
Clean the product after each use.
- Remove the guard and clean it with the cleaning brush and/or rinse it under the tap.
- Clean the cutting unit with the cleaning brush and/or rinse it under the tap.
Never dry the trimmer teeth with a towel or tissue, as this may damage the trimmer teeth.
Every 3 months: cleaning trimming head connector
- Clean the trimming head connector and hair chamber with the cleaning brush and/or rinse them under the tap.
- Clean the inside of the trimming head with the cleaning brush and/or rinse it under the tap.
It is also suitable to use in a shower.
