Easy to set up and does a great job
So glad I bought this. Was worried about foster cat as she hid all the time. Now I can spy on her and check her movements. She has to be fairly near the sensor for it to notify me of a movement . I haven’t got an SD card, however can still take photos from the live feed and record little video clips (I don’t know max length of recording without SD card or cloud).

Hello Freddie,
The Tapo C100 1080P Wi-Fi Indoor Security Camera can be used through a glass window. It features night vision capabilities, allowing it to detect movements even in low-light conditions, which is beneficial for monitoring through glass surfaces.

Hey Rio,
I can advise that the Tapo C100 is a wireless Wi-Fi camera for data transfer (streaming video), but it is not battery-powered; it is a corded electric camera that needs to be plugged into a power outlet to function, making it a "wireless" device in terms of connection, not power.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello The grinch,

Troubleshooting the Tapo C100 1080P Wi-Fi Indoor Security Camera
If your Tapo C100 1080P Wi-Fi Indoor Security Camera is not connecting to WiFi, even after a reset, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check the MAC Address: Ensure the MAC address of your Tapo camera is correct and not already connected to another network.
Remove and Reconfigure: Remove the Tapo C100 from the Tapo app, reset it, and then reconfigure it to connect to your network.
LED Status: Check the LED status on the camera when starting the configuration process. It should be flashing green and red.
Hotspot Wi-Fi: Enable a hotspot Wi-Fi on your phone, reset the camera, and reconfigure it with a different phone to see if it connects successfully.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to TP-Link support for further assistance.
Thank you.
Hi, Pat
I can advise that the Tapo C100 1080P Wi-Fi Indoor Security Camera can be wall-mounted.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello,
Yes, the Tapo C100 can record motion through a window during the daytime because its motion detection relies on changes in pixels. However, there are some limitations:
Daytime Performance
Functional: The camera can detect motion through glass and send notifications.
Customizable Zones: You can set specific motion detection zones within the Tapo app to avoid recording irrelevant movement like passers-by on a public street.
Nighttime Limitations
The main issue arises at night due to the camera's infrared (IR) night vision:
Reflection/Glare: The infrared LEDs will reflect off the glass, resulting in a blurry or completely white, unclear image that hinders effective motion detection.
PIR Sensor (If applicable): While the C100 primarily uses pixel-based motion detection, some cameras use Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors which do not work through glass because glass blocks the heat signals they detect. The pixel-based detection still works, but the IR glare at night makes the image unusable.
These resources explain how pixel-based motion detection and IR night vision affect recording through windows:
Have a nice day!
