Great, loud, bassy portable speaker.
I purchased this speaker not realising how good it actually is! Its very easy to set up and use. The volume, and the fullness of the sound is impressive. If you like deep satisfying bass, this speaker is for you. Couple the speaker with the dedicated smartphone app for more functionality, and EQ presets (and custom settings), and you have a decent little sound system! The speaker is sturdy and well built. It has a strong, adjustable carrying strap, and is also waterproof, so you won't need to worry about being caught out in...um (those water droplets that used to fall from the sky...Rain!! Oh yes, I remember now! (Summer 2026)). The Extreme 5 looks built to last, so I'd expect it should serve me well for years to come.

We've had a JBL Charge 6 at home for a while now, and we've always been impressed with its sound quality. So I was curious to see how the JBL Xtreme would compare... and wow, it completely exceeded my expectations! If you're hosting a party at home, spending the day on a boat, or anywhere you can really enjoy loud music (without disturbing others ;-) ) I can highly recommend the JBL Xtreme! Pairing two speakers together is super simple and takes just a few seconds. It creates an even bigger and more impressive listening experience. I also love that when you switch one speaker off, the second speaker turns off automatically as well. It makes using them together so much more convenient. If you're looking to take your music experience to the next level, the JBL Xtreme is definitely worth it!

One is great, but two are absolutely amazing
The JBL Xtreme 5 is a total game-changer! The speaker feels incredibly solid, yet it's surprisingly lightweight—my 5-year-old carries it around with ease. Full resistance to water, sand, and accidental drops gives you total peace of mind, especially outdoors. The battery life is also impressive: after a full charge (around 2 hours), it lasted an entire week playing for about 5 hours a day! A single speaker performs great, but connecting a second one takes the experience to a whole new level. The sound truly stands out with its incredible clarity, crisp detail, and deep, punchy bass. Pairing them through the intuitive app takes just a few seconds. Placing one at each end of the apartment fills the entire home with spacious, perfectly balanced music. I couldn't be happier with this purchase—highly recommended, especially as a pair!

Size matters
The JBL Xtreme 5 is a big speaker with huge capabilities. Build quality: Top-notch, there's really nothing to complain about. It feels absolutely bombproof (and waterproof - IP68). Ergonomics: The unit is big and heavy, but you know that going in when you buy it. Shame there's no fixed, rigid handle- just a strap you clip on. The ambient lighting adds a nice vibe too. Battery life: I couldn't drain it in about 20 hours (that's the total playtime over a week). So I'm guessing the claimed battery times are pretty much spot on. The battery is swappable, though I didn't actually use that option myself. Sound - the main thing: Loud, clear, powerful, with deep bass that doesn't bleed into the other frequencies. The Xtreme 5 can easily work as a stationary home audio system. Outdoors it's also strong enough to power a party in the garden. Bottom line: The JBL Xtreme 5 isn't cheap, but in this case you get what you pay for. Great sound quality, volume, top-tier build, and long battery life.

Great choice for open air dance socials
The experience of using the JBL Extreme 5 speaker with phone is phenomenal, even without reading instructions ;) The bass matches my music preferences and i really enjoy listening it. One speaker is easily enough for open air dancing social and for that purpose it is perfect, but true potential awakens, when you connect more speakers together. It fills more air with music and pairing it's almost effortless by one click, then you can invite more people to dance with you :) I will never understand, why you can't include charger and cable in the box...

The JBL Xtreme 5 speaker was a very pleasant surprise. The sound and bass are simply superb. I won't compare it to other models here, but JBL really delivers when it comes to both build quality and sound. It’s great. The battery lasts over 24 hours—easily enough for a good house party. It’s also comfortable to carry thanks to the shoulder strap

Got my extreme 5 couple weeks ago I love it it’s perfect for power and sound easy to carry not heavy unlike my boombox 3 the strap and speaker both well built sturdy and was a must have I love it

Our JBL Xtreme 5 also offers a higher IP68 rating, introduces the new AI Sound Boost feature, and an upgraded Bluetooth version 6.0 compared to Bluetooth 5.3 on our JBL Xtreme 4. Additionally, our JBL Xtreme 5 supports lossless USB‑C audio playback and includes ambient edge lighting.
