About this product
The Habitat Oiled 2 Door Glass Display Cupboard gives you a smart way to show off what you love and hide what you don't. It's inspired by a 1960s design classic, with the natural oak grain really standing out under the light oiled finish. You've got glass doors for displaying treasured items where everyone can see them, and slatted wooden doors for keeping everyday clutter out of sight. There's room for ornaments, books, family photos, or your collection of whatever you're into. The cupboard holds up to 25kg, so it's solid enough for heavier pieces.
The cupboard sits on a platform base with tapered legs that lift it off the floor, so you can hoover underneath without any awkward bending. Inside there are three shelves, one fixed and two adjustable, so you can arrange the space to suit what you're storing. Natural solid wood handles feel lovely to use and match the oak finish. It needs two people to assemble, and all the fixings are included. Wall-mounting is required because it's over 60cm tall, that's really important for stability and safety. Comes with a one-year guarantee.

Good design with plenty of room.
Bought this a month ago. The design and appearance are excellent with plenty of storage for such a small unit. However the first one delivered was faulty in as much the doors could not be adjusted enough to actually close. Lacking in Quality Control.

I had been looking for a wooden shelf with both great design and excellent storage capacity, but most options from other stores either looked cheap or were poorly designed in a way that easily collected dust. However, this shelf is perfect! Assembly may required two people, so my partner and I worked on it together, but it turned out beautifully. Some reviews mentioned that the item arrived damaged, but I didn’t experience any issues. If you can get it while there’s a furniture discount offer, you’re lucky!

Echos of Mid Century
I bought the companion piece to this cabinet, the sideboard, about 6 months age so I knew about the oiled finish. I mention this because reading other reviews, I understand it's the finish many reviewers complain about but for me the finish is one of it's great attributes. The wood is not sealed with a hard varnish but a soft finish of oil, this type of finish allows the wood to develop a patina over time. The wood soaks up a proper beeswax polish and benefits from a bit of energetic polishing. The base has very nice solid wood joinery and the glass shelf is substantial in thickness. The doors were difficult to line-up but no more difficult than any other piece of flat-pack furniture.

Missing hingebases
The cabinet is in very good quality, however, 2 of the hingebases are wrongly packed in. Already sent email for following up for a week, haven't got reply from the company yet. Hope it will be soon followed up, so that we could put the last cabinet door back on.

This cupboard is a substantial and sturdy piece. Solid wood throughout and easy to put together. Very pleased with it, feels like real furniture.

Bad quality but nice to look at
I bought this as it suited my living room aesthetic. I incorrectly assumed it would be made mostly of real wood - the shelves, back and sides are mdf. We had to get a replacement back panel as it arrived with black mould on it. The finish is very poor - we needed to use gloves at all times when handling it as it had so many unfinished surfaces causing splinters. I consider myself very proficient in building flat pack furniture (if that's a thing) however the instructions lacked detail and were difficult to understand at times. Looks good when finished but do not feel it is worth 330 that we paid for it.

Lovely design, poor build.
Lovely design which is ultimately let down by the build quality. While the build is straightforward, I experienced issues with all the door panels not aligning with one another. There’s some discrepancy on each door with one being 2mm taller, wonky or slightly bowed. These may seem like small differences but when you’re aligning four doors to meet perfectly, it’s an issue. It was easy enough ordering spare doors and I ended up finding four that were close enough. Overall I’m pleased with the unit, but I wish a bit more care is taken with the build quality.

..after down sizing we have been busy "modernising" our living spaces..where possible we've bought solid wood furniture - well as close as we could find for money available - and these cupboards are excellent..lots of solid oak with one or two super panels that have been laminated but few would notice!..everything fits nicely and although flatpack on delivery one should not be put off - an excellent way of learning the construction of your furniture..

Yes, the wooden shelf in this bottom section is removable. As it's adjustable, it just rests on little pegs and is not part of the item's structural frame.

Reapply linseed oil every year. Allow to absorb for 1-2 hours and wipe dry.

The glass shelf in the Habitat Oiled 2 Door Glass Display Cabinet - Oak is adjustable, there are three alternative heights available and it is the same with the wooden shelf in the lower half of the cabinet.

I can confirm the full maximum load weight is 50kg in total, the breakdown is -
15kg on top of unit
10kg per wooden shelf
5kg for glass shelf.
