Yes, you can toast 3 slices of bread in the Cookworks Illuminated 4 Slice Toaster - Black. Each pair of toasting slots is controlled by a carriage lever, so both levers need to be down if toasting 3 or 4 slices of bread.

I have one of these and the cord is approximately 72 metres long. Hope this helps.
I dont think the slots are long enough to take a full length of French stick bread...maybe just a bit of it. I think some toasters can take a whole stick though.
