Unable to buy standalone smart brick = immoral
I don't mind that this does not come with smart brick - it does say that. But Lego's management made the nakedly unethical decision to make smart bricks available only as part of a handful of 'all in one' sets, so they can force people to buy a second set just to get the smart brick. Deciding not to sell standalone smart bricks - which I'd happily buy - is immoral profiteering and blatant exploitation of loyal fans. They'll probably give some sop PR story that they chose to 'ease fans into the smart brick world via select specially designed sets' but they're not fooling anyone. They don't deserve our business anymore.

Drop your adult view and let the kids play!
These are designed for the children and to expand their imaginary play. The builds are sturdier and a better size for smaller hands. If you want a like for like design to the real thing, cough up the hundreds for the UCS Falcon. My almost 5 year old loves his Falcon, and that he can make loads of different sounds. His favourite is of course the blasters. He now has the sounds to go with his stories of how they beat the tie fighters and go into hyperspace. It heightens his play, not detracts. The technology is clever. In such a small confined space, the ability to make different sounds, notice if the ship is upside down, and if a character is near is neat. Well done all involved.

Great sturdy play set, lovely play experience with the openable roof. It clearly says the smart brick isn’t included. It made my son very happy

Bit of a rip-off
Firstly, I love the concept. The addition of light and sound to models is great. However, this set does not come with a smart brick. A set with the full smart setup, brick and charger, has to also be purchased. Rather than supplying at least one smart brick, which could be charged with a charger, which could be bought separately. I realise the description of this model did make it clear there was no smart brick, however I have also purchased the smart x-wing, which only has one smart brick. The x-wing has several modules where the smart brick has to be swapped out from each one. This really interrupts play and just doesn't work. So adding to that the millennium falcon, which also has multiple locations for the smart brick, and only one smart brick between the two models, just makes the situation worse. Each model should include at least one smart brick, preferably one for each location, otherwise I can't really see the point.

Wonderful millenium falcon
I really enjoyed building the set, and then playing with the set, together with a smart brick from another set. I particularly like the robustness of the set. I love the sound effects from the smart brick and the light effects for the hyperdrive.

My son adores this set. Both of my boys absolutely love the smart brick functionality and have been playing non-stop. This is now his favourite set.

What are we doing here Lego? The ship itself looks awful. The tech is terrible. What are these sounds? You have the star wars licence but you use these generic sci fi noises. Really disappointing. You say only the best is good enough. If that is the case how did this set make it past prototype stage. I really hope this wave flops so hard. We don't need this

SMART Play™ All-In-One sets contain everything you need to start your SMART Play experience, right out of the box. They contain SMART Minifigures, SMART Tags, a wireless SMART charger and... drumroll please... the SMART Bricks! This brick is the brains of the operation. It responds to how it is being moved through the air, and reacts to how it is being played with. From the information available. Using cutting-edge technology, it responds precisely to how kids play. In other words, when you play, the SMART Brick plays back. There are three key pieces that work together: 1. The SMART Brick. A 2x4 LEGO brick that recognizes SMART Tags and SMART Minifigures. It also has a built-in accelerometer which knows how it is being moved through the air, and brings play to life in incredible ways. 2. The SMART Tags. These clever little tiles tell the SMART Brick what it should become, to help it play back with you. 3. The SMART Minifigures. Short answer: nope. When developing the SMART Play™ System, we made the conscious decision to exclude screens. This helped us stay true to classic LEGO® play and maintain kids’ imaginative control. We have, however, created a SMART Play app for parents. The LEGO SMART Assist app is the companion app for adults to manage and maximize the potential of LEGO SMART Bricks. It helps you control SMART Brick settings, update new play features and get quick help when you need it. It’s an app for grown-ups to get the most out of the SMART Play experience, so that kids can keep on playing.
Yes. The SMART Bricks, SMART Minifigures and SMART Tags can be combined with any LEGO® sets we’ve ever made (and ever will make). It’s not a ‘new’ System in Play, but an evolution of it. However, to get your hands on these SMART Play™ elements, you’ll need to buy one of the LEGO SMART Play sets we’ve released them in. There are two types of SMART Play sets: SMART Play All-In-One sets and SMART Play Compatible sets.
