Too much slack
I bought this a little while ago and installed it in the lawn. I thought it was a good idea to have the flexibility of taking all different sizes, but it does not hold the line upright enough with too much movement when using all the plastic spacers for a smaller diameter line. Disappointing.

I have a rotary line with a 48mm post so this spike was a good size but also had plastic sleeves to adjust the internal diameter. I dug a hole 15 - 20cm deep and with a 15cm radius. I then hammered the spike in . There is a plastic cover to put on the spike to protect it from damage while hammering. I used thick plastic post. The spike went into the ground quite easily. I then filled up the hole with a bag of postcrete, added water and left it for a day to set. Supports my rotary line very well. Price was good compared to other places I looked.

I like the fact that it comes with multiple sleeves. The cap for striking it to sink it into the ground is substantial, although it is better to place a piece of wood on top of it.

This stake wouldn’t fit where my previous stake went. Therefor not really compatible. It was too big. I am unable to comment on stability. Would probably be ok if I were able to hammer into the ground but I have all flagstones.

Decent Heavy Duty Ground Spike
This is a decent heavy duty ground spike which comes with different adapters to support most rotary dryer pole diameters. It was excellent value for money. In my situation I fixed it in the ground with post mix but it does come with a plastic driver to help knock the spike down with a hammer and piece of wood.

For most gardens with firm soil, the spike alone is usually fine.
If your rotary airer wobbles, or if the ground is loose, adding post mix will make it completely stable.

No it will not, if it can accommodate a 50mm pole and spec says it is 5.5cm it obviously wont fit into a 40mm hole in concrete

Apologies, no, you can only do this from big to small, not the other way around. You would need to change the ground spike to a 45mm one.
