OK, but doesn't dry after it has rained
I read the product description before buying, but didn't read the Q&A. Unlike the ancient coir doormat that I've just binned, this doormat is NOT suitable for outside my house doors. As soon as it rains, it squelches and doesn't dry out - the plastic backing stops the water from draining away. It cleans your soles, but you end up with wet footprints on your carpet. Only really suitable for inside a sheltered porch or inside the house door.

Great Doormat
This doormat is a great price. I wanted a smaller doormat for my porch and this one fits my space perfectly. The mat is very hardwearing, simple in design but it looks very stylish.

The non-slip backing is designed for hard flooring, but it will work somewhat on thin pile.

Yes it is possible to cut the following the steps listed below:
Remove the old coir mat out of the recess well and use the tape measure to work out the length and the width of the well or recess, plus the mat well depth. Make sure you measure up all sides of the mat well, as they aren’t always square. Note down the measurements on a notepad.
Turn your new piece of coir matting upside down.
Mark up the measurements on the back of the coir mat using the marker pen.
Carefully cut the PVC backing to the size of your mat well measurements using a Stanley or sharp knife.
Fit your brand new coir matting into the mat well and press down all the edges to fit it securely.

I have spoken to our supplier who have advised as follows.
Coir is a natural fibre derived from husk of coconut.
Coir doormats are best suited for entrance doors with covered patios or sheltered entrances.
It can be used outdoors provided it has a roof over it. It is not meant for direct contact with rain or snow.
If coir doormat gets wet, it should be dried under sunlight. Otherwise it will leave a wet stain mark on the doormat.

Not that heavy. You could carry it. It would be awkward to carry long distance. But its quite light. Heaviest part would be the rubber on the side. Quite long. But its very hard wearing. Lasted be a long time., by the front door.
