Not high tech
Quite surprised at all metal construction, felt like it had been made in someone's shed. Having said that it does what it says on the tin no frills. It has lots of metal edges not sharp but potential to scratch or dent. Delivery by Royal Mail with little information on delivery I was out and package was thrown over back fence. What a good job it was all metal construction. Argos please check your delivery operatives customer care creds.

Solid and straightforward
Well made, simple design, does exactly what it says. Folds down flat making it easy to fit in a laptop bag. Only negative is that its solid construction makes it heavier than I'd like, but if was lighter it would be flimsier.

Whether your laptop gets hot will depend on a number of external factors, the brand, age, and model, plus how many systems and which systems are running at the same time. On it's own, this cannot prevent that. However, having the underside exposed by being tilted on this riser, especially if any of the cooling vents and parts prone to overheating are on that side too, it may help as it'll increase air flow around the device.
