About this product
Get perfectly cooked chips every single time with this chip pan that's built for regular use. The 22cm flat base sits flush with your hob for quick, even heat that spreads right through, so every batch cooks consistently. It's crafted from durable metal inside and out, making it tough enough for daily cooking and easy to keep clean. The clever mesh insert lifts out with your chips, so you can drain them without the hassle of fishing them out one by one or juggling hot pans.
The 4L capacity handles generous portions for family dinners or when you're feeding a crowd, and the glass lid lets you keep an eye on things as they cook. It works on any hob you've got, whether that's gas, electric, halogen, ceramic, induction or solid hotplate, and it's oven safe up to 200C. Because it's dishwasher safe, cleanup is quick and easy. Stainless steel chip pan praised for quality, ease of use, and making crispy chips. Basket design and handle heat are common issues. Suitable for small families, durable, but requires careful oil management.

Chip pan
Very good chip pan easy to use leaves chips cooked perfect

Best chip pan I've had in a long time.
I have been using this for about five months and I am delighted with it. The stainless steel is easy to clean and you can clearly see when you need to change the lard (yes, I still use lard) and if you get any bits at the bottom of the pan. If, on occasion, the lard or oil is too hot, the very sturdy basket can be lifted up and sort of 'clipped' into position while you let it cool. It's the best chip pan I've had in 40 years and it makes frying chips a doddle. I avoided buying this larger pan as I live on a narrowboat and there's only me to cook for. It feels like it is going to be good for years to come and I wish I had purchased it sooner. This replaced the smaller diameter Argos/Sainsbury's black coated version that I purchased in Sept 2024 with the wire basket but it didn't sit right and scratched the coating off the bottom of the pan over the course of about a year.

Perfect for chips
Very glad i bought this, very easy to use and clean. Basket is very handy. Cooks very nicely making chips nice and crispy very consistently. Holds a lot of oil and heats up very evenly, very easy to drain and clean also.

Great value
Bought this 7 months ago- does the job, but you do require a lot of oil for crisping so would suit a small family. The heating plate has possibly cracked inline causing irregular heat spiking. However overall shape has maintained and great for boiling

Does what it should do, cooks lovely chips but only fault it's quite heavy as someone with arthritis in my fingers this is a bit of a problem.

Heavy
Very heavy, if your not very strong this isn't for you.
Stumpy
Great chip pan however…
Nice chip pan & aesthetically pleasing however the slots that the basket sits in could be deeper & maybe a way to raise the basket a little higher when trying to drain after cooking but apart from that great crisper, durable, good capacity It’s great & I’d definitely recommend 👍🏻🎉

It does state in the description that it can be used on a halogen hob.
Hi DD
No this Argos Home 22cm Stainless Steel Chip Pan can NOT be used as a halogen hob.
I hope this helps
Thank you for using Q&A
Hi, I think the lid is for general use ie veg or potatoes, not for frying chips. If you put the lid over fat whilst cooking it will cause condensation to more or less steam, not fry your chips. If you like a crispy kind of chips Id leave the lid off.
Hi, I have bought this chip pan and the instructions say clearly Do Not Cook with the Lid On. Hope this helps.
Hi Lil
Yes you can cook the chips with the lid on
