Superb hybrid camera - great results!
I spent a great deal of time watching and reading reviews and talking to photographer friends before I chose the S5ii. Coming back to serious amateur photography after a few years with digital compacts and top of the line mobile phone cameras, which I still found wanting, I was looking for a camera with great low light performance, in-body image stabilisation, and wide dynamic range, among other things. I also wanted good video performance, though that is less of a priority at the moment. The S5ii has not disappointed! It's a superb camera with great features at an amazing price point. I'm still learning the features - there's a lot to this camera - but already I've been delighted with the results. The low-light and In-Body Image Stabilisation are just amazing, the sharpness and clarity of the images is a delight to the eyes. I've taken shots at down to 1/4 of a second that are still sharp! I wouldn't recommend this normally, but it illustrates just how good the IBIS is. I have also taken a number of portraits in low light conditions inside, bright sunlight and overcast cloudy days and all have been fantastic, great colours, sharpness, and bokeh - some of the capabilities I'd missed. In addition, I enjoy landscape photography and have been equally delighted with the results, and that's all from jpgs, no post-processing. I'm completely new to RAW processing and not sure I want to spend much time on it - I prefer the composition and using the camera settings to vary light etc. With the results I'm getting I'm not sure I'll ever get into RAW processing! I have both the 50mm f1.8, and the 20-60mm f3.5-5.6 lenses. Both excellent lenses for my needs. The 20-60mm is particularly good for a travel lens/out and about and speculative photography, and takes great portraits, as well as good macro. The 50mm provides absolutely superb portraits, even in very low light conditions. So far, I've only taken a small amount of video, but that has been very good - lovely detail, AF has been great, and the quality is much better than either my compact camera or phone camera. There are so many features and capabilities of this camera, and I'm enjoying discovering them. Yes, I've made a few mistakes, but that's part of learning how to use it, and I was prepared for the learning curve. It feels great in the hand, the controls are easy to reach, and the menus seem quite straightforward. I've now identified how to separate Still and Video configurations (CreativeVideo Combined Set), and having identified my preferred settings for stills and video my next task is to configure custom settings. If you're looking for a great stills and video camera, with great features, this is it. The IBIS and AF are great, images are sharp and beautiful, and it has numerous video features including 6k Open Gate.

S5ii - The Best Value Full Frame Camera
I've not had the S5ii long but I am already extremely happy with my purchase. Handling - it's a pleasure to shoot with being fairly lightweight and having an excellent grip. The button positioning is very good (although I'm still learning and need to set up my custom options, which there are plenty). Still photography - I only have the 20-60mm kit lens but it's excellent quality. I am really pleased with the output I can get from the s5ii and that's before I've really learnt how to maximise the options available. Video - I'm extremely impressed with the video capabilities on the s5ii, I recently filmed some of my daughter's 5th birthday party, I didn't look at settings just on the cuff pressed the handy red record button and the results (in low light with disco lighting making it challenging) are fantastic. Lumix apps - the apps are extremely easy to connect to and very intuitive. I can get my images and videos into a mobile device seamlessly in no time. I really can't wait to learn with this amazing camera and I will no doubt have many good times out and about shooting with it

High quality camera at low cost
I am an experienced photographer and have owned many cameras from most of the manufacturers. I recently made a choice to change to LUMIX full frame and micro four thirds together. The M53 for action and the ff for travel and general photography. I bought the S5 mk 2as the ff. So far very impressed, the features are very comprehensive. But most importantly I love the image quality, top class low light performance but the look of the files are gorgeous. The only thing I am not keen on is the style of the camera, it’s a bit square and blocky looking. But really , I don’t care about it, it’s very easy to use, the controls are comprehensive and have a sturdy feel. The autofocus seems very good but it is early days for me yet. Now that Panasonic have decent auto focus they could leap up the leaderboard with this camera. It’s good. The final and most important icing on the cake is price. A camera this good and I got it new for around 1400 gbp. Oh and that’s including 2 decent lenses. My previous body, cost me 3000 gbp grey market, plus 1000 for a lens. For me LUMIX is a no brainer.

Wish I'd bought this sooner
I bought this to photograph my family and the delights of daily life with a longer term plan to going back to landscape photography when I have more time. I upgraded from the Canon 60d and only wish I had done it sooner because the difference is astonishing! I'm very happy with all aspects of this camera but in particular the face detect auto focus and low light performance. I'm also enjoying the customisation of the buttons which I have started to bed in - though to get it exactly as I want it will take time. I've not experimented with video yet so cant comment on that. Mine came with the Lumix S 50mm 1.8 which is absoloutely wonderful for taking pictures of the family and the nice allrounder 20-60 kit lens which I use when I'm out and about. I can't speak highly enough of this camera.

Excellent camera and features. Focusing is on the ball. As a wedding videographer this is perfect handheld with the stabilisation and light enough for gimbal work.
