After checking with the supplier, I can confirm you will need to ensure surface is clean and free from wax or oil. If wax has been used clean the surface thoroughly with white spirit. We recommend that bare wood should be sanded before using Rust-Oleum Satin Furniture Paint.

The supplier has advised the following for the Rust-Oleum Satin Furniture Paint 750ml - Slate:
"The Satin Furniture paint is a tried and tested paint that we are confident is fit for purpose as an elegant finish coat for renovating furniture. It can be applied to most surfaces without the need of a separate primer. When applied in accordance with our recommendations to suitably prepared surfaces you will be left with a smooth, elegant finish.
As am sure you will agree, this is a coating and it can be damaged, we would recommend using place mats and coasters to protect from hot plates and mugs for example. Full hardness is achieved after 4 hours, so we would advise handling with care in this period."

I have spoken to our supplier who have advised as follows.
Yes the Satin Furniture Paint can be used over veneer. The paint has a primer built in so there is no need to prime the surface first. Preparation is minimal, just make sure the surface is clean and dry and free from any grease. Apply the first coat and leave to dry for 4 hours before applying a second coat. This is critical to give the paint time to cure and adhere to the veneer. The paint will be touch dry after approximately 20 minutes but it is still critical to leave it the four hours so the underside of the paint has time to cure.
As with any painted surface we recommend using place mats for cups etc.

This is for furniture rather than tiled surfaces but the same manufacturer does make tile paint designed for that specific purpose.
Hi Catherine - There is a Rust-Oleum Tub and Tile paint kit. It's a 2-part kit that uses two substances mixed together. I think it requires two coats. If you Google your question you will find a lot of help including YouTube demonstrations.
