After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Argos Home Winslow 600 Pocket Kingsize Mattress: ''We can confirm that the ticking fabrics on this mattress are treated with flame retardants to ensure that they meet the requirements of the Furniture and Furnishings Fire Safety Regulations.
This is the case for many mattress ticking fabrics.
There is some odour with all new mattresses, part of which may come from the treatment on the covering materials.
This odour does fade quite quickly if the mattress is left to air for a day or two. It is likely that some odour will remain for some time after that but it is very rare that we hear of customers finding this a problem.''
