Very happy with this iron. It's nice and light, the water tank hasn't got to be topped up in the middle of doing my ironing and the steam output is very good. It's great that i don't have to sort through my ironing to get similar types of material to iron on the same heat, this just adapts to all materials.

Phillips perfect care steam generator iron
Easy to use & no temperature control required. The only downside is the water tank isn't detachable for filling & emptying which l had on my previous Phillips steam generator iron. But the overall performance of this model is better

Having checked I can see this has a steam trigger lock so you don't need to keep pressing this button in for the steam to be continuous.

Having checked, the manual for the Philips PerfectCare Compact GC7842/46 Steam Generator Iron does advise "This appliance has been designed to be used with tap water. However, if you live in an area with hard water, fast scale build-up may occur. Therefore, it is recommended to use distilled or demineralized water to prolong the lifetime of the appliance." It is recommended to empty water when you have finished ironing.

Velcro fix, and for the Hose it has a storage compartment.

Having checked I can see the following steps are needed:
Fill up the water tank halfway making sure that the appliance is plugged in and switched ON during the Calc-Clean process.
Place the Calc-Clean container on the ironing board or any other even, stable surface.
Place the iron stably on the Calc-Clean container.
Press and hold the CALC-CLEAN button for 2 seconds until you hear short beeps.
Note: The Calc-Clean container has been designed to collect scale particles and hot water during the
Calc-Clean process. It is perfectly safe to rest the iron on this container during the entire process.
During the Calc-Clean process, you hear short beeps and a pumping sound.
Wait approximately 2 minutes for the appliance to complete the process. When the Calc-Clean process is completed, the iron stops beeping and the CALC-CLEAN light stops flashing.
Wipe the iron with a piece of cloth and put it back on the base station.
Caution: The iron is hot.
As the Calc-Clean container becomes hot during the Calc-Clean process, wait approx. 5 minutes before you touch it. Then carry the Calc-Clean container to the sink, empty it and store it for future use.
If necessary, you can repeat steps 1 to 8. Make sure that you empty the Calc-Clean container before you start the Calc-Clean process.

Very easy, the iron starts bleeping when it needs descaling.
All you do is push the descaling button (on the base) put the plastic tray on the bottom of the iron, push the steam button and the iron will automatically clean itself. The pink light will go out when the descaling has been completed.

Yes, if l make a mistake and iron a crease in the wrong place, l can remove it very easily.
