Good steam
Easy to use , it glided over the clothes. But the instructions were not very good. How long do you wait until it is ready to use? The steam output was good . The wire not not long enough to the iron and when you empty the water out you have to take the iron the stand it is awkward.

Crease removal great.steam out great. Glide fantastic. I didn’t realise it was only one unit. To empty it I have to take the whole thing to the sink to empty it. Also where do you put a hot iron so you can empty the tank.I have to have a little table at the side of me to rest the water tank while ironing. You have to wait for the steam to to generate then it buzzes. When I get used to it I am sure I will love it.

No more burned clothes!
I was.so fed up with irons burning my clothes I searched for a non-burn iron and found this one on offer at Argoa.. No need to set a temperature, it does that for you. It glides effortlessly, love the steam feature all leading to a beautifully smoothly ironed item of clothing.

Absolute rubbish, do not buy
I bought this iron to replace a Tefal steam generator iron I had for 18 years that broke. This iron will not get creases out of shirts or t shirts, which I have ironed about three times. Had it a week and I'm returning it. Currently using and old standard iron that is about 20 years old and does a much better job. This iron has no temperature control and so the iron is not hot enough to press out the creases. The steam is intermittent and weak, and pumps out steam after you have taken your finger off the button, and so continues pumping steam once is put on the end of the ironing board so it eventually creates a puddle. Utter expensive rubbish

What an absolute gem!
What a fantastic purchase! I absolutely love this iron, it takes all the hard work out of ironing! Creases just vanish! No worries about heat control anymore! The iron just glides over the clothes. Why did I not invest in one much sooner I ask myself??? Ironing used to be a chore, now it is a pleasure!

Having checked, the manual for the Philips PerfectCare Compact GC7842/46 Steam Generator Iron does advise "This appliance has been designed to be used with tap water. However, if you live in an area with hard water, fast scale build-up may occur. Therefore, it is recommended to use distilled or demineralized water to prolong the lifetime of the appliance." It is recommended to empty water when you have finished ironing.

Velcro fix, and for the Hose it has a storage compartment.

Philips PerfectCare Compact GC7842/46 Steam Generator Iron
Having checked I can see the following steps are needed:
Fill up the water tank halfway making sure that the appliance is plugged in and switched ON during the Calc-Clean process.
Place the Calc-Clean container on the ironing board or any other even, stable surface.
Place the iron stably on the Calc-Clean container.
Press and hold the CALC-CLEAN button for 2 seconds until you hear short beeps.
Note: The Calc-Clean container has been designed to collect scale particles and hot water during the
Calc-Clean process. It is perfectly safe to rest the iron on this container during the entire process.
During the Calc-Clean process, you hear short beeps and a pumping sound.
Wait approximately 2 minutes for the appliance to complete the process. When the Calc-Clean process is completed, the iron stops beeping and the CALC-CLEAN light stops flashing.
Wipe the iron with a piece of cloth and put it back on the base station.
Caution: The iron is hot.
As the Calc-Clean container becomes hot during the Calc-Clean process, wait approx. 5 minutes before you touch it. Then carry the Calc-Clean container to the sink, empty it and store it for future use.
If necessary, you can repeat steps 1 to 8. Make sure that you empty the Calc-Clean container before you start the Calc-Clean process.

Very easy, the iron starts bleeping when it needs descaling.
All you do is push the descaling button (on the base) put the plastic tray on the bottom of the iron, push the steam button and the iron will automatically clean itself. The pink light will go out when the descaling has been completed.
