The Ruark Audio R1S DAB and FM Smart Radio is a complete music system combining digital radio, Wi-Fi streaming, and Bluetooth in a compact unit that fits on a kitchen counter, bedside table, or desk. With DAB, DAB and FM bands, you get clear reception and 8 preset stations for your favourite shows. The Composite wood hand-crafted grille and tactile curves give it a fresh contemporary look, while the Roto Dial controller and colour LCD display make switching between stations or streaming services easy.
Wi-Fi streaming supports Spotify Connect, Amazon Music, and Deezer, while Bluetooth 5 connects to your mobile for other services and remembers up to 6 devices. It has a USB port, AUX input, and headphone socket. Delivering 9 watts RMS with bass and treble controls, it's ideal for bedside use with alarm, sleep timer, and RDS scrolling text. Nice radio, pity about its lack of features
A well designed & quality radio with excellent sound. However, it lacks features which cheaper competitors offer as standard, eg. No upnp/dlna service, limited list of music sources (no Tidal), and a clunky control app. Poor value for money.

Lovely piece of kit
Bought a pure radio alarm clock, thought that was good until this one to replace a cheap kitchen radio. Never heard quality like it, travels through the whole downstairs, superb sound and functions, very easy to navigate Would love to buy another for upstairs. 10/10 here

Amazing radio
I bought the R1s a couple of weeks ago , it replaces a Revo Superconnect, which I have had as my bedside radio for the last 12 years or so. It was so easy to connect and set up, I’m really happy with the sound quality, more subtle than the Revo, not as boomy, very happy with is.

Ruark Audio R1S - first few weeks
Very impressed by this little sound system. I use it in the kitchen to listen to music or news, current affairs, etc. The audio is very clear for speech and packs quite a punchy bass for music. I like the understated styling, and controls are easy to use. Nothing to fault so far, though I've not used the bluetooth yet to stream from my phone. It's also future proof, with access to internet radio.

I bought the RS1 at the end of September. I’m happy with it, but I do have one comment – when I unpacked it, there was no protective film on the screen, even though I’d seen from YouTube videos that there should be one I also bought the R410 a few weeks ago

Awesome piece of kit
I absolutely love my new Ruark R1S Smart Radio! It has replaced my Bose Wave IV, which I thought would be a difficult act to follow, but I have been genuinely delighted with my decision. The sound quality is superb, with a beautifully rich, clear and well-balanced sound that is remarkable for such a compact radio. The design is equally impressive – stylish, elegant and beautifully finished, with a real sense of quality and craftsmanship. It looks fantastic in my home. I particularly appreciate the combination of traditional radio simplicity with modern smart features. It’s intuitive to use, wonderfully versatile and a pleasure to listen to every day. Having owned a Bose Wave IV, my expectations were understandably high, but the Ruark has certainly lived up to them. It’s a brilliant example of how excellent sound, thoughtful design and modern technology can come together in one beautifully compact package. I’m absolutely thrilled with it and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. A well-deserved five stars!

Great sound and looks great too
I used an earlier version of the R1 at a hotel a few years ago and always intended to buy one, finally got the R1S and I'm very pleased with it. Sounds much better than you'd expect from its size, and it looks like top quality too. Already a few friends who have heard it want to get one too

Really good quality
The sound quality is excellent. The alarm is much easier to set than others I have had before. Internet radio is good. Appearance is classy. It gives me delight everyday. Am thinking about getting some Ruark speakers for my hifi.

Brilliant sound quality.
I purchased this based on reviews and didn't have a demonstration. I looked at other makes, which were much cheaper, but I am so glad I bought this. The sound quality for such a small unit is outstanding and the build quality is impressive. The controls are well thought out and it is easy to locate the radio stations I want to hear. I look forward to many years of use.
