The Manhattan S4-R 1TB Freesat 4K TV Recorder brings you over 100 Freesat channels, including more than 35 in HD, alongside popular on-demand apps like BBC iPlayer, ITVX and YouTube. Just plug in your existing satellite cables and connect to Wi-Fi, and you'll have live, recorded and streaming content all in one place. This recorder works with the satellite setup you already have, so there's no need for complex installations or new equipment.
Record up to 4 programmes at once with a compatible setup (like Sky Q), or 2 with older setups, giving you flexibility. The 1TB storage holds up to 600 hours of shows, while pause and rewind let you take breaks during live TV for up to 2 hours. The 15-day electronic programme guide helps you plan or catch up, and the search works across live and on-demand services. It upscales content to 4K for sharper picture on compatible TVs. The box includes a remote (batteries included), HDMI output, Ethernet connection, is compact and lightweight, and has a 1-year manufacturer's guarantee.

HOPING FOR NO ISSUES.
Taking a bit of getting used to from my previous Freesat box which stopped receiving signals. Bought this one on line and it worked well but, after 3 days it developed a fault. Could not retrieve recorded programs. Machine kept shutting down and going back to main menu. Just could not get any playback. Took whole lot back to place I bought it from and got a replacement recorder which seems to be working fine at moment, fingers crossed. Hoping I don't experience other inherent problems.

I brought 2 weeks ago, as I was fed up with sky, This box was so easy to connect, navigation is really good, the channels are what we watched before, so very very happy with purchase plus an added extra we have 3 years insurance for £30

Satellite TV without the bills
I had been a long term Sky satellite TV customer with Sky HD + but found I was watching few of the Sky channels. If you won’t miss the Sky channels then the Manhattan S4-R is the perfect subscription free alternative. I just connected the satellite cables to the box and it was very easy to set up the Freesat channels. I can watch catch up, and record, pause and rewind live TV just like before. The cost of the box will soon be covered by my cancelled monthly Sky subscription.

Great item. Done away with my satellite subscription £90 month. Used the satellite dish as my aerial picture is poor. Wish I had known these existed before. Could have saved thousands of pounds.

not able to Download Apps
I bought this for the recorder, it does what I thought it would do with 1 exception, you can't add Apps to this box, there are some already on it but things like Paramount+ or Disney+ can't be downloaded to it, it was an easy setup and the picture and sound are good enough for me.

If the current Sky Q installation uses an old EL010 or EL21A Sky Hybrid LNB, it requires a signal switching command from a Sky Q box to convert it to Wideband. This command is proprietary to Sky Q only and is not available in the S4-R, so the box will treat the signal as Universal. This means if two feeds are connected, you can record 2 channels, and if one feed is connected, you can record 1 channel.
If on the other hand, the LNB is a new Wideband (having two outputs namely Vertical & Horizontal), the S4-R will support recording 4 channels.

The two port connections labeled SAT IN 1 and SAT IN 2 on the rear of the device utilize standard threaded F-type coaxial connectors.
