Great budget TV but with (very minor) issues
For the price you can't go wrong. But has a couple of issues worth noting. As with nearly all flat-screen TVs the speakers are rubbish so you will need a soundbar and that's where the issues lie. The legs that come with the TV are too low to sit a soundbar on the same surface as the TV without it encroaching into the bottom of the screen but more significantly the soundbar will block the remote control receiver. Toshiba could do well to consider this for future designs: make the legs a few cms taller and reposition the remote sensor to the extreme left or right bottom corner so it doesn't get blocked. Of course, if you are wall-mounting the TV this won't be an issue otherwise you might want to budget in a TV riser as well as the soundbar. Worth noting that this TV doesn't have an optical connector for the soundbar so your soundbar will need an HDMI socket. Another consideration, which is nothing to do with the TV but with the Freely service, is the inability to set reminders for shows as you can do with Freeview and being unable to delete channels. So barring a Freely software update you'll have to put up with loads of channels you don't want cluttering up the channel guide and remembering when your shows are on - neither is a reason not to buy but just something worth noting. But I'd still recommend this TV as well worth the money especially with the discount code. As usual service and delivery from Argos was flawless.

Everything we needed
My wife needed a new TV so we looked at all the makes and sizes. My father always said there was only 3 males he would trust so when we say the Toshiba it was a no brainer

Looks good
I bought this recently and so pleased i did. The dialogue is clear and contrast is very noticeable. The brightness can easily be changed to suit, as can the vibrancy and smoothness is continuous. It looks, and sounds really good, I definitely recommend it

Not a good start!
I bought this TV after the Hisense we'd had for 16 months died. We have other Toshiba TV's and they perform well so thought I'd buy this one. Started the initial set up but as we got to the internet password the tv froze having only accepted 4 of the digits, tried switching on and off a few times and changing the batteries in the remote but still frozen screen. We ended up connecting a blue tooth key board to complete the set up. After about ten minutes the TV started to switch itself off, we switched it back on again and it switched off again several times, then when it was on, it tuned itself away from the selected cannel and started cycling through the apps, this went on for most of the evening at which point I thought I was going to have to return it but the next day it did settle down, was it updating software and rebooting itself? Who knows? but no update messages. The next thing we tried to address was the very tinny and hollow sound, tried everything available including the equaliser settings but nothing improved the sound quality, it resulted in me having to buy a sound bar to resolve the issue, an extra cost that I should not have had to incur. Couldn't connect the soundbar via the usb port because there was a very loud hum and no sound, tried blue tooth but the lip sync was off by about 1/2 a second so ended up having to use the 3.2mm headphone jack and turning the sound up to 70% + to hear anything. Is it working now? yes, after adjusting the backlight intensity to full, otherwise the picture is too dark to view particularly in day light, would I buy another? doubtful after this experience.
