I recently purchased the HP 15 laptop and I've put it through it's paces, whether that be controlling 3D printing as well as utilising it to run a DAW at the same time, so far so smooth. The only thing that I would like to have is a dedicated slot for SD card expansion.

Upgradeable great value laptop, best in class
A great value laptop, and the base for possibly one of the best performance to price ratio laptops you can get. It came with the Intel 5 processor instead of the i5 listed but it's is basically the same (arguably better). The screen when viewed from the right angle is great (though it does have a narrow viewing angle) and bright for daily use. I've been impressed by the integrated graphics making it great for low graphics casual gaming but even on a more demanding game like subnautica it was playable at a low setting. The ram is upgradeable (though you have to remove the bottom of the laptop entirely) and if you get a Intel 5 model it comes with a empty slot to double the 8gb it comes with). The default 8gb ram is okay but I belive does bottleneck the system quite a bit and with the upgrade the system is considerably more responsive. The laptop is fairly light and thin, with a good selection of ports and I think the laptop overall looks smart in a no thrills way. It's only weaknesses is a slightly cheap (though fully sized with numberpad) feeling keyboard and the mentioned default ram, but the keyboard is fine and I tripled the ram capacity for only £30 as an after purchase. Great laptop

It is totally possible to install Linux onto any HP laptop. Try going to the BIOS, by entering the F10 key when booting up. In their, try disabling secure boot and switching from UEFI to Legacy BIOS then save your changes.
