Ok but limited
Purchased as a Bed Side alarm with added benefit of being able to use the emergency call feature of Alexa. Yes it works but the ability to adjust the Brightness and the night mode is clumsy and limited. Seems at times to just go blank!

Using it as a bedside clock radio
I bought this a couple of weeks ago when it was half price, which made it a very good value clock radio replacement - DAB clock radios being around the £100 mark. Being pretty tech savvy I found set up easy, and after playing around with setting alarms that triggered Radio 4 via BBC Sounds, I concluded that actually it was best for my purposes to set my alarms as routines in the Alexa app - set to trigger at the relevant time on weekdays, and different times on Saturdays and Sundays, to set the volume to 3 then play Radio 4 for 1-2hrs. The only downside with routines is that I'm not able to snooze my alarms, but we generally leave the radio running while we snooze anyway. Good clock radio features: night mode turns the time on the screen red and the screen can also be dimmed to zero although even that gives off some background light (if the screen in night mode on zero brightness is too bright (as I've found) you can set the screen to turn completely off via a scheduled routine or by asking Alexa, and it stays off until you next use the wake word or a routine runs), volumes below 3 are very quiet - the control of the volume is very fine, you can set any number of alarms and routines, radio reception via BBC sounds is very good provided you have good WiFi signal in your bedroom but it lags several seconds behind the actual time, by more seconds than DAB radio does. Speech recognition by Alexa seems pretty good provided you stick to fairly easy stuff. All in all it is proving a great replacement for our ageing DAB clock radio that only allowed one alarm to be set and would randomly trigger buzzer alarm rather than radio, and when playing, the radio would cut out every so often for several seconds. The Echo Pop would be a good alternative bedside radio to avoid any nighttime brightness issues.
