Hello Emma,
The supplier has advised the following for the Tower T18008BLK Multi-Function Food Processor:
In general, you should not put solid, firmly frozen food or ice directly into a standard food processor, as it can damage the blades, motor, and bowl. The extreme hardness puts major strain on the appliance.
However, you can use a food processor for certain tasks with partially frozen or specific types of frozen foods, with a few precautions:
When It's Generally Not Safe
- Solid Blocks of Frozen Food/Ice: Avoid putting in food that is frozen solid, as the hardness can cause blades to dull or break, and may crack the plastic bowl.
- Frozen Meat: Do not process fully frozen meat; it should be thawed until it is firm but can still be pierced with a knife tip. Partially frozen meat is actually beneficial for clean slicing but must not be rock-solid.
- Tough, Unpeeled Items: Avoid very hard items like unpeeled, tough-skinned frozen fruits or vegetables, which can strain the motor.
When You Can (With Caution)
Frozen Fruit for "Nice" Cream/Sorbets:syou can make "nice" cream or sorbets from frozen bananas or berries in a food processor.
Tip: To minimize risk, let the frozen fruit thaw for a few minutes (about 10) so it's not ice-hard, and consider slicing it into smaller pieces before processing. Use the pulse function and scrape down the sides as needed.
Frozen Vegetables: For standard frozen vegetables like broccoli or mixed veg, it's generally best to thaw them first before processing, especially if you want a consistent result. Processing while frozen can result in a mix of very fine and large pieces.
Thank you for using Q&A.
