Its not freely adjustable but can be made shorter.

Because the grey pole at bottom can be removed and just the white pole with attached fan can be fitted directly to base this would make it shorter.

On checking the manual I can see it is advised to clean the exterior of the fan with a soft cloth regularly but this does not come apart to clean the blades.
