Okay it's a watch and it tells the time. I previously owned a Lorus and found it to be reliable for the years that I used it so I thought I'd go for another; mainly because it is a good reliable accurate watch brand at a fairly budget price point. At first I was frustrated because there are no instructions included but the day and the date was set out of the box, the days are possibly in Latin or just refer to the planets the days were historically named after; I tried to change this to the more normal days, but found that I couldn't; now I am getting used to it, I like that feature. Can't test the claimed water resistance to a 100m or 10 bar, so will have to take their word for it.

Big Lorus Watch
This was purchased for my elderly father to replace a very old Seiko watch. I was very pleased with three Lorus watches that I'd previously purchased and expected this to be of similar quality, but was disappointed in the mechanism. The appearance of the watch is excellent, it's got a large clear dial, and shows the day and date. The case, crystal, winder and bracelet all look excellent. However, the first problem I had was with setting the time, as the mechanism is rather loose compared to other watches, and the minute hand moves very freely. This makes it a lot harder to set the time accurately than it should be. Additionally the mechanism for changing the day isn't standard. On most day/date watches, when the crown is pulled half way out, the date can be changed by turning the crown one way and the day when it's turned the other way, but this isn't the case with this watch. The full instructions, which are available to download on the internet, do explain what to do, but it isn't as easy or obvious as it should be. The final problem I experienced was removing a link from the bracelet. Although I have the correct tools and quite a bit of experience adjusting and fitting watch bracelets, I found it very hard to remove a link from the bracelet on this watch. This watch wasn't that low-cost and being a Lorus (the same company as Seiko) I expected it to be better quality. Although my father likes it and it keeps good time, I wouldn't purchase it again as I think there are better alternatives at a lower price.
