Just about okay but not great
This was purchased to replace a similar sized Qualcast model which I had had for years but recently died on me. I did not have much time to do any research into new models and as I had only a few trees and bushes to deal with, I did not want to purchase an expensive model. This one was chosen as it was reduced by £20. I noticed the first problem after about 10 seconds of trying to cut a branch and getting nowhere. The chain had been assembled facing the wrong direction. For something so basic and which the handbook stresses if you ever have to change it, this is very shoddy. From reading some of the other reviews here it would seem that I am not alone in having this issue. Removing and refitting the chain only takes a few minutes but there is a knack to it. (Don't worry - you will get plenty of practice fiddling with it!) After refitting it, the saw cut as expected. The second issue was with the chain tightening. The chain regularly become slack. When I say regularly, I mean every few minutes. (This was never an issue with my old Qualcast). Tightening the chain should just be a question of turning the knob but I found that even when the knob was turned as tight as I possibly could, the chain would still be slack. The only way I found to resolve this was to slacken off the chain completely and usually have to completely re-sit it on the guide bar and sprocket. I would then be able to tighten it sufficiently and it would then be okay for anything between 2 minute and 20 minutes. On the Qualcast, the tightening knobs and locking knobs were separate functions rather the one knob performing both functions here. Finally, it seems as though the chain is blunt after only a few hours of use. The Qualcast had a built-in sharpening system which I found invaluable. I will try fitting a new chain to this model but I should not have to so soon. My summary? Shipping the product with a mis-fitted chain is just plain sloppy. Resolving it took less that 5 minutes but I shouldn't have had to. The chain tightening issue seems to be a bit of a design problem. The blunt chain seems to imply an inferior part is used. Would I buy it again? No - but that is not to say that all the similar priced models don't have the same issues. As I don't plan to do much more work with it I don't plan to replace it. If I were, I would look for a model that had a the chain tightening and locking on two different knobs and which had an inbuilt sharpening mechanism.

Excellent saw
Although I found the saw extremely easy to use the only bad bit it doesn’t mention you need chain oil anywhere but you can’t use it till you put some in
