Easy to use and clean

Excellent product
We bought this for my elderly mum so she doesn’t have to lift a kettle with boiling water for a cup of tea. It does the job perfectly. Easy to fill and quick to have boiling water. It will fill either a cup or a mug. The maximum is 8 cups. Ample for us. It is a very modern design which we like.

Way below expectations
My daughter suggested that I get a hot water dispenser to replace my broken kettle as I work from home & it would be an economical benefit. I did quite a bit of research into the different brands & opted for this particular Breville model based on customer feedback, design, simplicity and 1.7L capacity. What a huge disappointment this product has proved to be. Two main factors to consider: 1. The amount of water dispensed fills mugs only 2/3 & overfills teacups 2. The hot water is just about hot but certainly not boiling - if you don’t consume your ’hot’ drink immediately, it’s going to be a cold one very quickly! As a customer, this model does not live up to user expectations. I like my hot drinks to be exactly that…HOT - not warm!! Definitely wouldn’t recommend wasting your money.

Quick cuppa in a jiffy
Purchased this as a replacement for my old machine. Absolutely love it. Quick cuppa in no time. Easy to keep clean too. Takes up very little space. Definitely recommend.

Best on the market
Excellent for hot drinks. 2nd one I have bought. This time looked round at lots of others but nothing matched the quality feel of this one. Simple to use with one button for on and an easy to use stop button right at the front where you need it in a hurry. Never had any issues with my previous one so not expecting it with this one.

Easy and comfortable in the house for making tea
Easy and comfortable in the house for making tea and coffee but only in small quantity. Cannot be relied upon to dispense enough hot water to make custard.

Quick and easy
Very useful for my disabled husband and what's not to like. Easy to use, and quick.

Hi Katie,
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, like all kettles, the Breville VKT124 should be descaled regularly to maintain performance and extend its lifespan. The frequency depends on the hardness of your local water supply.
Hi Juz,
I can confirm that the appliance does bring water to boiling point (100°C) internally during operation. However, due to heat loss during dispensing, the temperature of the water measured approximately 10mm from the nozzle is typically around 95°C to 98°C.I hope this helps.
Hi,
Dimension-wise a pan should fit easily as without the drip tray the height up to the nozzle is 16 cm. However, it may not be very easy to fill it since every time you press the start button, the machine will dispense one glass of water (about 250 ml). Thus, you may have to press the button a few times to fill the pan
Hi Prince,
The Breville VKT124 HotCup Water Dispenser has a 8 cup capacity.
Thank you for using Q&A
Hi Smullb!
This model does not have variable amount feature and it will dispense 250 ml of water but you can stop at any time! So, if you need less water, you can press stop button and have less amount of water.
Hi Nesims, when using the VKT124 lid, it is a matter of simply lifting it; there are no buttons involved, just a little handle that helps in elevating the lid.
Hello Nesims,
The Breville VKT124 HotCup Water Dispenser’s lid can be opened by pressing the lid release button located on the top of the device.
Thank you for using Q&A
Hi Jue,
The Breville VKT124 HotCup Water Dispenser is energy saving however it would depend on the kettle and it energy rating on if it is cheaper to run.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello.
I can confirm that once you heat up and boil the first cup, the second one takes less than a minute to dispense.
I hope this helps.
Hi Jak!
I can confirm that the model VKT124 does not have a Brita filter. If you are looking for a model with a Brita filter, please check our VKJ367.
Hope this help.
Hi Zoe
The measurement is 14.3cm but you can also get more room by removing the drip tray which is magnetic and the space is then 16cm which should be fine for a travel mug.
