Not colour on front of tin
Very disappointed, it’s nothing like the colour on tin , it’s just like white

Definitely chalky
I bought this to give a lift to some tired kitchen units doors, it went on beautifully but found it hard to put a sealing coat on without wiping off the chalk paint (I have used chalk paint before for other items and they had worked well). Have decided to let it dry thoroughly before I try again. In the meantime it has stood up well to occasional light use. Nice colour but dried much lighter than I expected. Given a middling score but still happy with the product.

Great paint
Purchased this product - a chalky paint and found it did the job easily. Easy to apply and leaves a good finish.

wow! this paint is impressive
I used this to paint a metal coffee table. The application is awesome, it's really thick and although I did 2 coats, I could have left it with the 1 coat. The colour is nice and the finish is amazing. It worked well when I applied the lacquer over the top. This is a seriously impressive paint.

This works so well
Bought this to paint an old pine bedside table and despite being a shiny finish (I gave it a quick sand down) it was ridiculously easy to paint and looks like a new unit now.

Hello Brian,
The supplier has advised the Rust-Oleum Chalky Matt Furniture Paint 750ml - Winter Grey is NOT suitable to be used on radiators.
I hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Annie,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Rust-Oleum Chalky Matt Furniture Paint 750ml - Winter Grey :
The Chalky Furniture Paint can be used on a resin fire surround and there is no need to use a primer. The product contains a primer, so you just need to ensure the surface which is being painted is cleaned and free from any residue. Two coats will be required, leaving 4 hours between the first and second coat. We would recommend using the Furniture Lacquer https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9426898?click... as a top coat to protect the painted surface from marks and damage.
Hope this helps.
Thank you for using Q & A
I applied this to some pine furniture that had some sort of varnish finish on it. I gave it a sanding-down before painting and it seems to have done the job. I think it will work as long as the item you are painting isn’t subject to ‘wear’.
Hi Jae
Our supplier says
" This product can be used on kitchen wooden cupboards however the paint will need to be protected with Rust-Oleum Furniture Lacquer Clear Paint 942/6898.
Please note:
· The cupboard doors must be cleaned using a degreaser to ensure there is no residue left
· Take care when cleaning after painting, no harsh chemicals or abrasive pads to be used – always read the instructions on the back of the can
Although the Chalky Paint can be used on cupboards, the specific Rust-Oleum Kitchen Cupboard Paint is recommended as this is a highly durable and scrubbable paint, required for high use areas such as kitchens. "
Thanks for using Q & A
I have used this paint on our bedroom furniture and the vanity units in our bathroom and it has lasted well - I'm not sure how it would last if it was used on items that were 'handled' repeatedly, but certainly for our cupboards and doors we are pleased with it.
Hi there,
No, this paint can be used directly onto wood, bare or painted.
Thanks for using Q&A
I used it to paint some bedroom furniture, so it didn’t need cleaning and covered very well.
Hi Jeanie
Our supplier says "Chalky furniture paint will not be suitable for direct application to marble, they would require a primer something like our Zinsser Bullseye 123 primer sealer"
Thanks for using Q & A
Hi Jane,
Thanks for your question.
This will be influenced by the surface type you're painting onto, and also the tool. For instance a roller will produce a smoother finish than a rush. I recommend reading customer reviews to get an idea of how others found the application with their various techniques.
I hope this helps. :)
I painted some furniture and a metal radiator with the paint without visible brush strokes. The finish is a matt finish as you would expect, and I was very pleased with the finish. I was concerned it might not 'wear' but pleasantly surprised.
Hi KN,
This paint is not suitable for painting a leather chair. It is suitable for painting on brick, metal, plaster, plastic, stone & wood.
Thank you for using Q and A.
I recently bought this paint for use on wood furniture. I don't know if it could be used on leather but I would doubt it. Once dry the paint may peel or crack on a flexible surface. Hope this helps.
Hiya Liz,
This paint can be used directly onto wood (bare or painted), brick, stone, plaster or any suitably primed rigid surface (metal, plastic etc).
Thanks for using Argos Q&A!
Hi KK
Having checked with the supplier for you I can let you know
they would not recommend using the Chalky Paint on bathroom furniture due to the high moisture levels.
Thanks for using Argos Q & A
