Great cat flap
This was bought to replace a previous cat flap of the same make and model that lasted 7 years. The microchip unlocking is perfect for our two cats, without the need for a collar, and stops any of their friends or enemies 😁 entering the house. Easy to fit and works well.

Simple set up, happy cat
Purchased as a like for like replacement when the old cat flap just decided to give up. Very pleased with it, simple to fit and set up as same size as the previous one. These flaps are a bit draughty but not sure that much can be done about it. Happy cat!

Super catflap
Great catflap. Bought to replace an old one and also to keep a stray cat out of the house. Straightforward installation and works great.

Secure and easy to fit.
I bought the chi recognition cat flap to replace an old manual one. It fitted the old hole though t is difficult to line up the two screw holes to secure it permanently. It was easy to get the cats recorded by the chip reader. Because the tunnel s longer than the old one it sticks out a couple of inches which makes it less cat friendly. The housing is well made but the clear door flap feels a bit flimsy and has the habit of sticking in the open position then opened to 90 degrees. Now the cats are a bit more used to t it is doing its job effectively.

Straight forward and easy
Great price, works well. Does what it says on the tin. This is my second time purchasing this model. The other one had run its course and was very well worn. Just needed a quick and easy replacement. Fitted in minutes over existing hole. Easy to programme, watched a you tube video to remind myself. Registered my purchase to cover the guarantee. All very easy .

Thank you for using Q&A
Hello Anna,
The supplier has advised the following for the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap:
Unfortunately, with the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap you cannot set a cat as “indoor only.” The flap can only be set to either allow all registered cats to go in and out, or to lock access for all cats.
If you would like to keep one cat indoors while allowing other cats to go in and out freely, you would need either the SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Flap or the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap Connect with Hub, as these models allow you to control exits permissions for individual cats.
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hello Mich,
The supplier has advised the following for the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap:
Although the model has changed, the installation dimensions and accessories remain the same, so there is no need for them to be replaced.
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hi Edna,
SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap.
It requires 4xAA battery,s. They are located at the top of the flap. It shows this on the video on the website.
Thank you for using Q & A.
Hello Daisy.
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap.
When you put the cat flap into scan mode to register the microchip by pressing the Add Pet button, the light begins to flash and the grey catch drops down. As soon as the cat passes through the flap, the microchip is registered. The light then stops flashing and the catch pops back up.
Thank you for using Q & A.

Thank you for using Q&A.
Hey Clarky,
I can advise that the catflap will unlock when the cat is close enough that the flap can read it's microchip.
Thanks for using Q&A.
had the same problem with a brand new one purchased today. Took it back to Argos for a replacement, and checked the replacement whilst still in the store. Replacement unit is fine.

Hello ajw,
SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap.
Yes, the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap can fit into an existing hole. If you have a pre-cut hole, you can install the cat flap using a cat flap mounting adaptor. Ensure that the hole is the correct size for the flap to function properly. For glass doors, a pane with a pre-cut hole is required, and a glazier can supply this.
Thank you.
I installed this myself on a door that has a metal lining on each side of the exterior. I had some issues initially, I was advised to make the hole a bit bigger and get the adapter as the metal was probably limiting the range of the receiver. That worked perfectly and Coco gets in and out whenever she needs, without next doors cats or cheeky foxes following her in!
Hey Shaun,
I can advise that this flap is suitable for use on a metal door.
Thanks for using Q&A.
