About this product
Cats coming and going on their own schedule makes life easier, but neighbourhood strays wandering into your kitchen at 3am disrupt peace. The SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap uses your cats existing microchip as an electronic key to keep out intruders while letting your cats move freely. Suitable for small to medium cats up to 6kgs, it stores up to 32 cats without collars. Battery powered with 4xAA batteries and works with all microchips, it gives independence without unwanted visitors.
The 4-way lock controls access completely - in only, out only, open or locked - which helps during vet visits or when you want them safely indoors. The plastic construction wipes clean and fits into glass, wood and most PVC doors, though glass installations need a mounting adaptor. Flap size of 142mm wide by 120mm high suits cats with shoulder width up to 14.2cm. It fits most standard cat flaps without complicated DIY work.

Ultra reliable
This is the 4th property where I have installed a Sureflap microchip cat flap and I have never been let down. They are very easy to fit and only let in the cat or cats registered in their memory.

Quite good and works well
I thought very carefully about buying this as first of all I actually bought a cat mate one, which was white and half the price of this as it was on special. As my door is brown, this annoyed me as I really wanted a brown one to blend in with door, but they didn’t have the brown in stock. I then I read up on which make was the better and reviews said sureflap. so I returned the white one and bought this one. Now my cat is notorious for staying out all night, and she catches mice. This deterred me from getting a cat flap as she brings them in. I then found out about an AI attachment that fits to the flap, and it works by recognising if the cat has prey in it’s mouth, then the AI detects that and won’t unlock the flap. Having seen the cat mate one compared to this, I do have to say that that one looked more well constructed, and had a gasket for the outside which the sureflap doesn’t, this is not what I read on the net before buying the sureflap one and reviews said that was the better one, it did however say that the sureflap was better at detecting the microchip compared to the cat mate, but I will never really know this. It was fairly easy to install with a jigsaw in a upvc door, but I’d seriously recommend taking the door off to do the job flat. It was a bit tricky doing it in situ. Overall the flap has been working in conjunction with the AI attachment, which is called zeromouse, (although it’s yet to catch her with prey in mouth) and my cat wears an RFID tag which I had to buy separately. This all means that I don’t get a disturbed sleep having to get up to let my cat in, and more importantly she can come and go when she wants.

Great Cat flap but check the size!
The SureFlap is superbly made and very easy to fit and programme. The only issue which needs consideration is the size of the flap relative to the cat. Our 6.5kg Bengal was too large for the cat flap, and we are now going to purchase a SureFlap pet door which has a significantly larger entry flap. I believe it would be useful to display the maximum cat weight relative to the product on the external packaging.

Fabulous
Bought this as a replacement for my old one I have had for years, love this cat flap, it’s solid and well made, stops other cats from coming in uninvited. Works amazingly.

Lock so noisy our cats refuse to use it
Had this for nearly a month as we're plagued by a large cat coming in. It's easy to programme but neither of our cats will use it as the very loud click it makes unlocking puts them off so a waste of money for us.

microchip is awesome
just means cats can be independent and own thing without me. I put one in 8 years ago and they do start letting in smoke from outside and leaver to keep cats out stops working after a while. I got Huntington's disease and was able to swap over to a newer cat flap.

Microchip Catflap
I bought this as a replacement for my 12 year old Catflap. It was the same model, so fitted in without altering the door. At £70 was a very good price too.

Great Product
This is a fantastic product, easy to install and set up. Will only unlock when it senses my cats microchip so prevents the other neighbourhood cat from entering. Really happy with this purchase.

Cat Flap
SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap, it is generally regarded as one of the better microchip-operated cat flaps available. As I’ve had one before I wouldn’t buy any other

Hello there,
The supplier has advised for the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap: The SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap works with your cat’s existing implanted microchip. To register the chip, simply press the button on the cat flap and then guide your cat through it once. When the flashing light on the cat flap stops flashing after the cat passes through, it means the chip has been successfully learned by the unit.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Lisa,
SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap.
The flap has a central magnet that helps prevent it from swinging in the wind.

Hello there,
The supplier has advised for the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap: The microchip cat flap can be fitted to a bathroom door and is suitable for allowing your cats access to the room. However, as the flap is not 100% draught-free, it is unlikely to fully contain odours as well.
In terms of hygiene, the product itself is designed for pet use and can be cleaned regularly,

Hello Anna,
The supplier has advised the following for the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap:
Unfortunately, with the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap you cannot set a cat as “indoor only.” The flap can only be set to either allow all registered cats to go in and out, or to lock access for all cats.
If you would like to keep one cat indoors while allowing other cats to go in and out freely, you would need either the SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Flap or the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap Connect with Hub, as these models allow you to control exits permissions for individual cats.
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hello Mich,
The supplier has advised the following for the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap:
Although the model has changed, the installation dimensions and accessories remain the same, so there is no need for them to be replaced.
Thank you for using Q and A.
