Looks good in the door
It's really good it's a relief knowing we can go out and if he goes out no unwelcome visitors can get in behind him.

Replace existing cat flap
I bought this to replace an existing cat flat so it was a like for like replacement.

OK but some hitches
Replaced an older flap that was getting ragged and then stopped working (chip locking) after 4 years. Had to return the initial replacement as door got stuck in open position. New one is working well.

Poor draughtproofing but works ok
Purchased this micro-chip activated catflap to overcome a problem with a rogue cat gaining access to our house and can report that the security issue is good - the flap is secure and has prevented any further unwanted visitors. The 'click' activation of the lock perturbed our cat for a while but has overcome the fear and easily uses the flap. Fitting was straightforward into the space left by a previous catflap and clear instructions. The big issue I had with this product was the poor design and construction of the flap into its housing, constructed with minimal and insufficient bristles around the perspex door of the flap allowing daylight to be seen and considerable draughts to enter. Dialogue with the manufacturer direct has resulted in a replacement perspex flap with slightly improved but not perfect design and manufacture. Overall the flap does what its meant to but not well made. And I have just beenmade aware that the price has been discounted by Ten Pounds - bad timing!

Excellent. Bought to replace original cat flap. Slotted in perfectly and is working well with recognising my cat's microchip. Would definitely recommend

Great catflap
This is the second time I have purchased this catflap. The first one lasted 13 years so it was daft not to buy the same again. We have this time however found the batteries haven't lasted half as long as the first flap. This could just be a one off ofcourse.

Good value
bought this cat flap to replace a magnetic one which the cats were not happy with. It was easy to fit as it simply fit into the previous hole. it was very easy to register each cat so now they can come and go as they please and I have peace of mind that none of the neighbours cats can enter causing them stress

Great features!
Great cat flap, microchip reading function works well to only enable your cats in and out and the option to lock it so they can get out but not in is useful if your cat has a tendency to bring ‘presents’ home

Hello Anna,
The supplier has advised the following for the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap:
Unfortunately, with the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap you cannot set a cat as “indoor only.” The flap can only be set to either allow all registered cats to go in and out, or to lock access for all cats.
If you would like to keep one cat indoors while allowing other cats to go in and out freely, you would need either the SureFlap DualScan Microchip Cat Flap or the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap Connect with Hub, as these models allow you to control exits permissions for individual cats.
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hello Mich,
The supplier has advised the following for the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap:
Although the model has changed, the installation dimensions and accessories remain the same, so there is no need for them to be replaced.
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hi Edna,
SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap.
It requires 4xAA battery,s. They are located at the top of the flap. It shows this on the video on the website.
Thank you for using Q & A.
Hello Daisy.
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap.
When you put the cat flap into scan mode to register the microchip by pressing the Add Pet button, the light begins to flash and the grey catch drops down. As soon as the cat passes through the flap, the microchip is registered. The light then stops flashing and the catch pops back up.
Thank you for using Q & A.
Hello Nic,
SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap - Brown
The SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap is compatible with all the following types of microchips commonly used for pets:
• 15-digit microchips (also known as FDXB)
• 10-digit microchips (also known as FDXA) except those with codes starting 000..., 010..., or 020...
• 9-digit microchip
I hope this helps,
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hey Clarky,
I can advise that the catflap will unlock when the cat is close enough that the flap can read it's microchip.
Thanks for using Q&A.
had the same problem with a brand new one purchased today. Took it back to Argos for a replacement, and checked the replacement whilst still in the store. Replacement unit is fine.

Hello ajw,
SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap.
Yes, the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap can fit into an existing hole. If you have a pre-cut hole, you can install the cat flap using a cat flap mounting adaptor. Ensure that the hole is the correct size for the flap to function properly. For glass doors, a pane with a pre-cut hole is required, and a glazier can supply this.
Thank you.
I installed this myself on a door that has a metal lining on each side of the exterior. I had some issues initially, I was advised to make the hole a bit bigger and get the adapter as the metal was probably limiting the range of the receiver. That worked perfectly and Coco gets in and out whenever she needs, without next doors cats or cheeky foxes following her in!
Hey Shaun,
I can advise that this flap is suitable for use on a metal door.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello LouCar19,
The SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap works with all common identification microchips & RFID collar tags (not included).
Selective entry – any animal can exit. The microchip reader is located on the outside of the cat flap only.
This cat flap also has a manual lock which stops your cat leaving or entering the house. Set to in-only to enable your cat to come indoors without being able to get out again.
There is a DualScan Microchip Cat Flap which can set exit permissions for each pet to keep specific pets indoors using DualScan technology.
Take a look at it:
