I purchased the kettle to replace a Delonghi white plastic jug kettle. At just over 3 years old the plastic was breaking up, I was finding particles of plastic in drinks. I am extremely pleased with the Russell Hobbs kettle. It is good looking and works well. The glass body allows you to see exactly how much water you are boiling. Very easy to just boil one cup if that's all you need.The lid opens easily allowing full access to fill the kettle. If you want water not quite boiling you can see the bubbles forming and stop the heating. The only minus comment, the power lead could do with being a couple of inches longer. That is down to my kitchen layout, but cable is shorter than previous kettles.

Limescale is built up from the water provided, however the Russell Hobbs Illuminated Matte Black Kettle 27550, does have a limescale filter so that this is not transferred to your drinks.
Limescale may build up and need to be removed in most kettles.
