Great features
This is the second of these kettles. I like it enough to buy another. They are more expensive than metal or plastic kettles but the benefit is being able much more easily to see what is in the kettle whether you are right or left handed than a kettle with just a narrow window. The kettle’s capacity and speed of boiling is the same as other kettles. The glass enables you easily to see when descaling is necessary. The recommended frequency is one a month. The handle is easy to hold and feels safe while the lid is opened by pressing a button on the top of the handle, which is a good place for practical daily use

Great kettle
Bought this a month ago and am happy. The kettle is great, works as expected, great quality, and a plus for me is to see the limescale so I can clean every few weeks with a bit of vinegar for 10mins.

Great kettle
This is my third RH glass illumination kettle and I love them. The water in our area is quite hard and our kettles fur up quite quickly. Being able to see when it needs descaling is a real plus. I also like the blue light when the kettle is warming up. The only negative is the spring on the lid which has been the feature which has broken eventually.

Limescale is built up from the water provided, however the Russell Hobbs Illuminated Matte Black Kettle 27550, does have a limescale filter so that this is not transferred to your drinks.
Limescale may build up and need to be removed in most kettles.
